Best Practices for Preparing Slides
D
Prep the Powerpoint. Remove animations, overly complicated designs. Your slides become snapshots.
Use a layout that includes the Title field, and your slides will be named appropriately after importing into
Collaborate.
Build in Welcome slides with explicit protocols (getting attention, Audio Setup Wizard, etc.) and ice-breakers
Build in slides for reflection (ask questions that focus on summarization, evaluation, & application) Example:
“In your own career, how can you apply what we’ve just learned?”
Ensure that all instances of the Powerpoint application are closed whenever Loading Content.

Best Practices for Presenting
Only Moderators are able to load content. Right-click participants to give them Moderator privileges. Rightclick them again to take away Moderator privileges.
If multiple Moderators will be loading slides, use the
Show Participant Page Names feature of the
Whiteboard to help organize slides.
Use the Pointer tool to focus attention
Use the Headline tool instead of the Textbox tool
Copy-and-paste text & images on the fly
Remember to check the Whiteboard permission for participants
