~ PERSONAL POSTER PROJECT ~ Please work WITH your child to complete their Personal Poster Project by Twosday, January 29th. Attached you will find the components that need to be completed and included along with adhesive letters that spell out your child's first and last name. Listed below are some guidelines and tips to follow while working on the project. purchase a standard size piece of bristol board (56 cm x 71 cm) in the colour/design of your choice (available at most dollar stores) do NOT use foam board cut out the 14 shapes on the attached sheets, leaving a tiny margin of white around each shape work with your child to complete each component: A Drawing of Me and My Family - to be drawn/coloured by the student under the direction of the parent - can include as many relatives as you like - label each person in the picture A Word that Describes Me (first cut out) - brainstorm with your child to come up with a positive adjective that describes them and write it in the first cut out - the word may be typed, traced, stenciled, bubble letters, etc. A Word that Describes Me (second cut out) - brainstorm with your child to come up with another positive adjective that describes them and write it in the second cut out - the word may be typed, traced, stenciled, bubble letters, etc. My Baby Picture - attach your child's baby picture in this space My Ten Fingerprints - use an ink pad to create prints of all 10 of your child's fingers A Drawing of My Bedroom - an aerial view is probably best for this - to be drawn/coloured by the student under the direction of the parent - try doing a rough copy on scrap paper first My Birthday is on - have your child complete the phrase by printing the month, day and year of their birth A Favourite Photograph - go through some favourite photos with your child and select one of their favourites to mount in the space provided A Quote About Me From My Parents - parents are to complete this without input from their child - write about your child rather than to your child (i.e. use their name and "he"/"she" rather than "you") - just write from the heart and pack in as much as you can! My Signature - have your child print their first and last name as neatly as they can on the line provided My Favourite... - have your child complete each 'My favourite ___________ is' phrase A Bible Verse About Me - cut out a favourite verse from the sheet provided and paste it into this space BLANK CIRCLE (first cut out) - this unlabeled circle is a space for your child to use as they would like - discuss with them what else they would like others to know about them and use this circle as an opportunity to showcase that - if they just want to draw a picture in this space, that's okay, too - they will need to include their own label for this cut out BLANK CIRCLE (second cut out) - this unlabeled circle is another space for your child to use as they would like - discuss with them what else they would like others to know about them and use this circle as an opportunity to showcase that - if they just want to draw a picture in this space, that's okay, too - they will need to include their own label for this cut out * THERE SHOULD BE A TOTAL OF 14 CUT OUTS WHEN FINISHED * position the bristol board vertically (i.e. "portrait" NOT "landscape") arrange the 14 cut outs AND letters of your child's name on the bristol board experiment with different arrangements until you find one that you like it is okay if some cut outs overlap slightly glue the cut outs on to the bristol board and fasten the sticky letters of your child's name to the bristol board once this is done, your poster is complete! :) HOWEVER... O if you would like to add anything 'extra' (i.e. more pictures, additional Bible verse, clip art, awards, stickers, borders, decorations, etc.) that is totally up to you - feel free to fill in any unused spaces on your bristol board posters will be on display until the end of the school year when they will be returned each student will have their poster displayed more prominently than the rest for 1 week between now and June Thank you for assisting your child with this project. I have attached this paperwork on the BCS website in the student centre in case you need extra copies. :) If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Be creative and have fun! Please note: The week that your child's poster is specially featured is also the week that they are to bring in a small, edible treat for the class (no flour, milk or nut products, please). This is to be brought in on the'Twosday' and there should be enough for each student/teacher to have TWO {19 students + 1 teacher x 2 = 40}. Please do NOT spend a lot of money on the treat. It is intended to be something little to make our 'Twosdays' doubly special (ex. Skittles, Gummy Bears, Tic Tacs, Jelly Beans, etc.) Your child only needs to bring 40 individual pieces NOT 40 packs. I will send you a reminder email about this a week before your child needs to bring in their treat. I look forward to seeing the finished posters! Mrs. T.
