The First World War Centenary Partnership is happy to announce a logo design competition to brand the programme of events held in Belarus in commemoration of the First World War Centenary.

From 2014 till 2016 Belarus-based participants of the Partnership, including Embassies of the UK, France,

Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and the USA will present a programme of cultural events and activities which will enable thousands of people in Belarus to discover more about life in the First World War and its relevance today.

You are invited to design an interesting and captivating logo that will be used at exhibitions, film festivals and other events organised as part of the programme that best reflects the spirit of the anniversary. Young people will be central to the commemorative activity, which will create an enduring legacy of remembrance and help them better understand the events and impacts of this global war. To this end, the logo should reflect the themes of remembrance, youth and education in celebrating the Centenary.

We welcome submissions from both professional and amateur designers, students, and anyone with a creative streak. You can send your submissions to ww1logocontest@gmail.com attached as .jpeg files along with an (optional) short description (no more than 80 words) in English, Belarusian or Russian telling us what the image represents.

Please include your last and first name, date of birth and your contact phone number in the body of the message. One person can submit up to 5 entries.

Deadline for submission – 23:00 on Wednesday, 14 May, 2014

The winner will receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

The winner will be chosen by a panel consisting of representatives of participating Embassies and should be able to submit the original file suitable for high quality printing not later than 3 days after the winner is announced.

Detailed Rules:

• The contest is open to the residents of Belarus only. Employees of the organising Embassies in Belarus are not eligible to participate;

• Each contestant is welcome to submit no more than 5 (five) entries. All entries should constitute the contestant’s original work;

• Submissions should be sent to ww1logocontest@gmail.com attached as. jpeg files along with a short description (optional), your last and first name, date of birth and your contact phone number in the body of the email message. We will not publish your personal information online.

• If your design is selected, you should be able to provide the original 300dpi resolution file suitable for high quality printing not later than 3 days after the winner is announced.

• The winner will be selected by a panel consisting of representatives of participating Embassies. The

• The winning entrant will be duly notified of their success as well as the date when the prize will be handed over.

• By submitting an entry participants grant First World War Centenary Partnership and associated institutions the right to use their work in any online and print publications, media and related promotional materials and at public events commemorating 100th Anniversary of WW1 without seeking further

permission from the author. The winner is welcome to include the logo designs in their professional portfolios.

• The organisers are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, or otherwise unusable entries and reserve the right to disqualify an applicant at any time during or after the contest if s/he provides fraudulent or invalid information or cancel the competition at their discretion.
