fear) in the audience? Consider
moments of verbal, situational, and
dramatic irony to create the tragic
effect of the play.

Sophocles’ Oedipus the King.
• You will fold a paper into four sections.
•In three of the sections, you will draw an
example of irony in Oedipus the King. Each
square requires a quote from the text.
•On the fourth square, you will write your answer
to our essential question.
