Dear Students and Parents or Guardians,
Welcome to eighth grade Social Studies! My name is Mr. Angus Chingman, and this is my second year
teaching Social Studies at Sangaree Middle School after teaching last year at College Park Middle. Eighth
grade will be full of many exciting experiences as we pursue knowledge in Social Studies. This vast
amount of learning will be greatly enhanced with cooperation between students, parents, and me, the
teacher. The success of the school year is not entirely the responsibility of the student, but rather one
that is shared with the parents and teachers. In order to facilitate this cooperation, you can contact me
at any time by:
Email: Chingmana@bcsdschools.net
Phone: 843-821-4028 (ext. 202)
Conferences: Please contact me or if you would like a parent conference.
Open communication with the parents is essential for each student’s success. The more opportunities
we have to talk, either on the phone, face to face, or via e-mail, the more I will be able to understand
and help your child with his or her needs at school. My teaching philosophy encompasses teaching the
whole student. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every student and encompassing many
different perspectives into South Carolina and US History.

they must attend an after-school tutoring session before they may do so.

If a student is issued an after-school or before-school detention, they will need to receive permission from a
parent-guardian to serve it. This permission will be granted by either phone call or letter. Please ensure that if your
