1. PROGRAM FEES
a)
The total program fee is $1,750 (including airfare).
b)
A $500 deposit must be paid by January 31, 2015. This deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE and counts toward the
total cost of the program. The program cost may be subject to change due to fluctuations in currency
exchange rates. Any changes in cost will be confirmed by April 10, 2015.
c)
All fees will be billed to your student account according to the following schedule:
$500
– with due date of 1/31/2015
$1,250 – with due date of 02/28/2015
d)
After electronic payments have been made, students are advised to contact the Bursar’s Office and may need to
sign a t-pay form in order to ensure that the funds are applied to the RSAP program and not other outstanding
charges.
e)
The total program fee includes airfare, all in-country travel, shared-room accomodation, entrance fees to scheduled
sites and events, required overseas health insurance, breakfast each day, and select lunches and dinners.
f)
Not included in program fee are personal travel expenses (to and from airport), medical expenses, passport fees,
and select meals while in transit to/from the Dominican. Laundry is provided for most of the trip. Snacks beyond
those supplied, souvenirs and personal expenses are not included.
g)
The total program fee must be paid in full by the payment deadlines indicated above. Deferred payments are not
possible because Virginia Tech cannot make travel and other arrangements on behalf of participants on a credit
basis. Failure to render full payment by the scheduled dates may result in the participant being dropped from the
program.
2. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
a) It is the participant's responsibility to complete all necessary admissions procedures for Virginia Tech course
credits that are a part of the program. Although students will receive three (3) credit hours for this course, the
course is NOT approved as part of the engineering curriculum. Therefore, the credits will not count toward
graduation requirements; they will only be counted as hours.
b) Scholarship or financial aid. It is the student’s responsibility to make all payments for the program irrespective
of the source of such payments. Additional student loan money may be available for this program depending on
your eligibility. PLUS loans are another possibility for support. Contact the financial aid office for more
information.
c) The total program fee must be paid in full by the final payment deadline. Failure to render full payment by this
date may result in the student being dropped from the program and forfeiture of the non-refundable deposit.
3. RESIGNATIONS
All resignations from the program must be submitted in writing to the program director.
4. REFUNDS
a) If dropped (or resigned) from the program prior to the final payment deadline, all payments will be returned except
the NON-REFUNDABLE deposit.
b) If dropped (or resigned) from the program on or after the final payment deadline no refund will be given
5. UNANTICIPATED EMERGENCIES
Please note that sometimes an unanticipated emergency arises during travel. If it is something beyond the control of the
program leaders (i.e. weather related emergency, etc) students are responsible for any expenses related to this. For
example, should the group get detained in another country and additional lodging, meals and other expenses are
incurred, it is the responsibility of the student to cover these.
I have read, and I accept the charges, terms and policies stated in the Virginia Tech Study Abroad Financial Agreement.
