If you are traveling from a different airport or staying in a different part of the city Hop Stop (http://www.hopstop.com) is a great resource for Driving, Walking and Public Transit Directions. New York City is very hard to navigate via car and parking is very expensive, we do not recommend bringing or renting a car. Subway New York has a vast and easy to use subway system. It is by far the cheapest and easiest way to travel in the city. For a complete subway map check out : http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm Highly Recommended: Hop Stop is also a great resource that offers subway directions. They have a free App available for download on your smart phone. Up to three children (44 inches tall and under) ride for free on subways and local buses when accompanied by a fare paying adult. A single ride ticket is $2.50 A Seven Day Unlimited ticket is $29.00 Taxi's Yellow cabs are available for street hail. Black car services and or "gypsy cabs" cannot legally be hailed from the street. We recommend that you do not use these cars. See the picture below for how to hail a cab! New York Taxi Fares Minimum taxi fare is $3.00. Additional charges are $0.40 per 1/5 of a mile (at or above 6 mph) or for 2 minutes of time stopped or traveling below 6 mph.
