 Summer temp. is -12 degrees C and -10 degrees C
 It’s like a tundra, dry and cold
 At night it’s below 0 and freezzing
WHERE IS THE ALPINE BIOME IS LOCATED?
 It is located where trees can’t grow
 The biome covers about 60% of the earth.

THE ADAPTED ANIMALS
 The Andean condor uses cliffs to fly
 Llamas have leather soles to protect from sharp rocks
 Mountain goats have round bodies to protect from the cold
 The snow leopard has a coat that lets them blend in with the rocks and snow.
 Vicuna has a thick round coat that traps layers of air close to the body.
ADAPTED PLANTS

Alpine Phacelia grow on rocky areas on mountains

Bear grass grows after a fire in the ashes like a phoenix

Bristlecone pine makes needles with barely any energy
•
Moss campaign grows lower and higher than Alpine
•
Poly lapis forest grows at altitudes of 4,500 meters
