HOLY WEEK SERVICES
A leaflet is available in the porches/narthex, detailing
the times of Masses, services and Confessions during
Holy Week. Please take one.
HOLY NAME ALTAR SERVERS (HOLY WEEK)
Please indicate on the List in the Sacristy which of the
Holy Week Liturgies you can attend: Maundy
Thursday (8.00pm; Rehearsal 7.15pm); Good Friday
(3.00pm; Rehearsal 11.00am); Holy Saturday Vigil
(8.00pm; Rehearsal 11.00am); Easter Sunday (9.00am
and 11.15am – no rehearsals needed).
MAUNDY THURSDAY - 28TH MARCH
Watching with Our Lord will take place until 9.00pm
at Assumption, 10.30pm at St. Mary’s & midnight at
Holy Name, providing several people can guarantee to
watch for allotted times. Please sign the sheet at the
back of church to pledge some of your time.
Parishioners at Holy Name are asked to bring in
plants to decorate our altar of repose. Please bring
them to the presbytery by lunchtime on the
Wednesday of Holy Week, and collect them on Good
Friday.
Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Volunteers are needed,
6.30pm at Assumption, 7.30pm at St. Mary’s and
8.00pm at Holy Name. Twelve parishioners from each
church community are asked to represent the
Apostles by symbolically having one foot ‘washed’.
There is nothing to be embarrassed about - no-one
will be inspecting your foot & there will be no physical
contact! This is a perfect opportunity for those who
are not involved on a regular basis to take part in one
of the most important liturgies of our year. If you feel
you could help by doing this, please contact Amanda
or Su in the Parish Offices.
HCT GOOD FRIDAY AND EASTER
The Walk of Witness on Good Friday will start at
11.30 in the grounds of St Mary’s and proceed on the
pavement to the Green where there will be a service
at 12.00 am followed by soup and Hot X Buns in the
Grove Centre. Collection for Mission Aviation
Fellowship. Dawn Service on Easter Sunday will be
at Leeds Trinity near the car park by the running track
at 6.30 am.
HOLY NAME DIAMOND JUBILEE
If you have been a member of this church community
please consider submitting a short memory of Holy
Name life in yesteryear. We would like to have
submissions from all age groups – not only the
‘seniors’. Also, if you have any photos for the historical
display then please submit them to the
Presbytery/Sacristy with your contact details. They
will be copied for the display and returned to you as
soon as possible.
FIRST COMMUNION DRESSES
Are needed for children in a poor parish in Leeds for
First Communion in June. Please contact Sue
(2678257) or Amanda (2582607) in OLK parish
offices if you have one you can donate. Many thanks.

WITHDRAWAL OF DISCRETIONARY TRANSPORT TO
FAITH SCHOOLS
You may or may not be aware that Leeds council are
consulting on taking away subsidised transport to faith
schools. The consultation has been running from 27th
February to 27th March 2013 and the relevant documents
can be accessed through the St Mary’s website (see end of
notice). Obviously we need to make a robust response to
the council to try and ensure they do continue with the
current arrangements. Representatives on the council
should hear as many voices as possible so we can make
sure this proposal never comes to fruition. The meeting is
at 6.00pm on Tuesday 19th March at St. Mary's High
School Menston.

ST MARY’S POSTAL SURVEY
The St Mary’s Pastoral Committee have been asked to
conduct a survey of the Parish. Accordingly, we have
arranged for a mail shot to be sent to every house in the
LS18 area. This is an effort to ensure that we have an
accurate and up to date record of all who wish to be
included as members of our local Catholic community. It is
an opportunity to welcome newcomers to this area, and to
renew contact with anyone with whom we may have lost
touch for some reason. This will be delivered by the Royal
Mail. HOWEVER, we need to sort out nearly 8 500 letters
for them to deliver! So, a letter sorting session has been
arranged for the afternoon of Saturday 23rd March from
2 - 4p.m. in the school hall and we would ask as many
people as possible to come along and help with this.
VACANCIES Please see the Parish website for details of
current job vacancies at Catholic Care and Cardinal
Heenan High School.
YEAR FOR FAITH - FOR INDIVIDUALS
Go to Confession. Catholics can find fresh heart and
renewal of life through the Sacrament of Penance,
becoming reconciled with God and with their fellows. This
Sacrament of Reconciliation urges us to turn back to God,
express sorrow for falling short in our Christian
discipleship, opens our lives to the power of God’s healing
and regenerating love. It offers us God’s forgiveness for
the injuries of the past and provides strength for the
future. Regular participation in this Sacrament should be
the norm for every sincere Catholic.
