BATS VS. THE HENS: The Bats travel to Toledo for a brief two game set before returning to Louisville
Slugger Field for two more to wrap up the four-game series. In 2011, the Bats are 10-7 against the Mud
Hens, including 4-5 at Fifth Third Field. Chris Valaika has had success against TOL this season. He is

PHIPPS SHOW: Bats OF Denis Phipps’s had his 14th multi-hit game as a member of the Louisville Bats
in last night’s 3-2 loss at IND. That now marks 14 multi-hit games in 26 total appearances with the Bats,
meaning he has had a multi-hit game in 54% of his games in Triple-A. His two-run shot in a game on 8/17
at IND tied his career high for home runs in a season with 12. He also hit 12 home runs in 2010 between
stops in Lynchburg (8hr) and Carolina (4hr). He is now only 2 RBI away from tying his career mark of 57
after running his total to 55 for 2011 on 8/17 at IND. He had 57 RBI in 2008 when he spent the entire
season at Dayton. Phipps is only one double away from tying a career high with 32 in a season after
doubling two times in a game on 8/16 at IND. He set his previous career high last season between two
stops in Lynchburg and Carolina. He had 10 doubles in Lynchburg and 22 in Carolina respectively.
MALONEY ON THE BUMP: LHP Matt Maloney makes his 11th start and 12th overall appearance for the
Bats tonight. In his last start, he recorded a no-decision, going 7.0ip and allowing seven hits and one
earned run. Maloney has lasted at least 6.0 innings in his last 3 straight starts. He has 4 quality starts so
far in 2011. Maloney has appeared in six games in Cincinnati including one start. He was 0-1 with a

EXTRA, EXTRA: The Bats played their 17th extra inning game of the year last night in a 3-2 loss in ten
innings at IND. Their record in those games is now 9-8. The Bats record in one run games is now 20-23 on

MESORACO’S MODERN LIFE: Bats C Devin Mesoraco added to his career high in doubles last night with
two more, pushing his total to 35 on the season. He now ranks 2nd in the International League in doubles.
The two extra-base hits push his total on the season to 50 which is good for 3rd in the IL.
THE DORN SUPEMACY: Bats 1B/OF Danny Dorn hit his 15th home run of the season in a game on 8/17
at IND and the 42nd of his Bats career, tying him for 3rd on the Louisville All-Time list with Mike Calise. He
has played the whole season with the Bats. His 63 RBI on the season ties his career high in a season of 63
which he had 2008 between Chattagnooga and Sarasota. His 25 doubles put him only two away from tying
his career high of 27 which he did in 2007 while with Chattanooga and Sarasota. He also had a career long
12-game hitting streak in 2011 that dated from 5/11-5/31.
TRANSACTIONS: On 8/18 RHP David Johnson was traded to TOR for a PTBNL and Cash. Johnson was
5-2 with a 4.98era with the Bats this season. LHP Matt Maloney will take his roster spot as he ended his
ML Rehab assignment and was optioned to LOU from Cincinnati. Maloney was 2-0 with a 2.40era in 30.0ip
on his rehab assignment. RHP Jared Burton also ended his rehab assignment with LOU and returned to
Cincinnati. Burton was 2-0 with a 6.00era in 9.0ip with the Bats.
