July 2013 – Measurement Specialties (NASDAQ: MEAS), an expert in sensor design and manufacturing, has expanded its line of pressure sensors with two compact, high-performance units for demanding industrial applications. The M7100 and U7100 feature high reliability at a low price point. The new IP67-rated pressure transducers withstand high vibrations as well as harsh conditions, such as dust particles, contaminated water and corrosive fluids, making them ideal for use in demanding engine, vehicle and industrial applications. Their compact size is suitable for many modern on-highway and off-highway engines, HVAC controls and energy and water management equipment. Designed with high reliability in mind, the M7100 and U7100 eliminate wire bonds and use only one PCB as well as only a few components. Total error band (TEB) is 1% over the sensors’ -40°C to +125°C operating temperature range. Output voltage is 0.5 Vdc to 4.5 Vdc. The new M7100 features a pressure cavity machined from a solid piece of 17-4 PH stainless steel and comes standard with a 1/4 NPT pipe thread for a leak-proof, sealed system, with other port sizes available. The sensor features a pressure range from 200 psig to 10,000 psig and uses the company’s Microfused™ silicon strain gage for exceptional sensing characteristics. -more- MEA-A-3334 Continued… Constructed of 316L stainless steel, the new U7100 offers exceptional durability with a variety of leak-proof, all-metal pressure connections, handling a lower pressure range from 15 psig to 150 psig for more precise applications. The unit integrates Measurement Specialties’ proprietary UltraStable™ technology for excellent performance and long-term stability over wide temperatures. Both sensors feature stainless steel hermetic pressure ports to protect the integrity of the internal components. No internal O-rings or welds are used, further enhancing long-term durability of the sensors. In addition to being water resistant to 1 meter, the new sensors can be customized for high volume applications. Pricing for an M7100 is $22 per unit in quantities of 10,000; the U7100 is $28 in the same quantities. Delivery time is dependent upon quantity ordered.
