ConAgra's Milton, PA plant is a complex, strategic food manufacturing facility with 766
total employees. There are 681 hourly, bargaining unit employees (UFCW) and a
salaried staff of 85 employees. Milton is the key producer of all Chef Boyardee
products (both canned and microwaveable), Healthy Choice microwaveable soups,
Gulden's Mustard. ConAgra Milton is ConAgra's largest cannery and the 4th largest
cannery in North America.
The Sr. HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional
areas: employee relations, labor relations, HRIS, training and development,
benefits, compensation, organizational development and training, talent
acquisition and overall engagement of the workforce.
As a key member of the Facility’s and SCHR Team, this position partners with
assigned business areas to ensure all human resources, employee relations and
labor-management needs are met. Assists in the implementation and
administration of policies and programs covering all aspects of human
resources for the entire complex workforce.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Management and Acquisition
 Manage the selection process: recruiting, interviewing, selection teams, hiring
and new hire orientation (including benefits) for all employees, including college
recruits, summer interns and cooperative education students. Ensure that the
best-qualified personnel are hired while maintaining all EEO/AAP requirements.
 Analyze statistical data and trends on turnover and retention and make
recommendations to improve Company practices and analyze market trends.
 Oversee the job posting and bidding process within facility.
Employee Relations
 Conducts employee investigations and resolve production hourly concerns and
issues; day to day resolution of issues
 Assists management team with corrective action and creates disciplinary
documents as necessary
 Supports and advises employees, supervisors and managers regarding
employee relations issues
 Coaching supervisors and managers in managing employee performance
 Establishes and maintains supportive relationships with employees, supervisors
and managers
Labor Relations
 Administer and ensure compliance with Labor Agreement.
 Advise all levels of management on Labor Agreement interpretation and
concerns.
 Assist Company in Labor Agreement Negotiations.
 Notify Management, Union Reps and Union Business Agents of upcoming
Labor Management meetings along with prepared meeting agenda; prepare
and post minutes.
 Investigate and respond to grievance, EEOC, and other complaints.
 Analyze data concerning trends in grievances.
HR Administration and Compliance
 Supervises HR Admin. Assistant II for efficiency; effectiveness; service
orientation.
 Administer the Worker’s Compensation processes (HR-related) for the facility
 Administer the Unemployment Compensation processes for the facility.
 Assist and Ensure Equal Employment Opportunity in all employment practices.
 Assist in compliance in the area of EEO, AAP, OFCCP and OSHA regulations.
 Assure AAP, EEO-1, and Vets 100 reports are updated on a timely basis.
Development and Training Programs
 Identifies training needs for salaried and hourly workforce
 Arrange and oversee training functions for employees and management.
Engagement of the Workforce
 Supports managers and teams in business delivery through enhancing their
capability to deliver the Company objectives, manage their people, implement
change and build relations with key stakeholders
 Collaborates with the business for the creation of a high performance culture by
implementing team and organizational design solutions, providing measurable
performance indicators and improvement plans
 Participate in and lead Engagement pillar activities for plant wide
implementation of work streams
Position Qualifications
 Bachelor's degree in Human Resource or related field required
 5+ years of HR generalist experience
 Previous experience in a Manufacturing union environment of 300+
employees strongly preferred
 LEAN manufacturing and TPM hands on experiences preferred in a
manufacturing setting with major ENGAGEMENT focus and experiences.

HR certification at the PHR or SPHR level is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to interact
professionally and positively with employees at all levels in the plant.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to work on
multiple projects
HRIS / PeopleSoft and related experience required.
Excellent computer systems skills including Word, Excel, Power Point and
Access databases.
Knowledge and understanding of employment laws and regulations (e.g. FMLA,
FLSA, Affirmative Action, ADA).
Knowledge of culture changing processes within an entire plant and all levels of
employees.
Ability to work Monday through Friday during office hours but be able to shift to
various hours to meet the needs of a 24/7 business with night shifts.
