Mrs. Summer Bellessa, Chief Editor
Eliza Magazine
1315 Sunnyside Ave
Los Angeles, CA 12345
Dear Mrs. Bellessa:
As a college graduate from Brigham Young University-Idaho preparing to graduate with a degree in
English in 2014, I am applying for the internship at Eliza magazine. I am responding to your “Help
Wanted” post on the Eliza blog. My background and experience will make me a valuable employee
for Eliza.
As a journalist for the school newspaper, The Scroll, I have had exposure to writing under intense
deadlines, brainstorming ideas for my department, and interviewing various sources. I am also
experienced in web design and layout. Other writing opportunities have come from working in the
Admissions Office for Brigham Young University-Idaho. I edited various business documents and
wrote for the Admissions’ blog.
My education has provided many opportunities to develop in a writer for many audiences and
different mediums. In addition to my English classes, I have experience with design and visual
aesthetics. I have successfully completed advance courses that have molded me into not only a wellbalanced individual, but also an innovative employee.
I would like to schedule a meeting with you at your convenience in order to discuss this
employment opportunity more thoroughly. More of my qualifications are listed in my resume.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Janeen Johnson
