What do you like about the content provided? It does a good job of covering class material All the contents are in one place. Content is accessible Video and audio are always good when you need to hear details from the instructor. I like the ability to see the Powerpoint slides and also access the audio content. keep it up there the entire program I like the Vimeo Videos that are posted and also the slides. 4. I do like how the professors label the daily class content. They keep each day of class content separated. I like having a separate link for Content, Grades and assignments. The content i easy to access and of good quality. Slides and audio I like that grades and syllabus are posted online. The instructors are typically very good about making a lot of information avialable. In most courses you would not get the entire recorded lecture and slides. I like that you can see the grading of assignments before the end of the semester for those professors who utilize the tool. I also like that both of your classes are in the same place -- again for professors who utilize the tool. Content is available, but the interface has changed too many times...good and bad. The good it that it has improved. It does a good job of covering class material What would make the content better? Film the lectures It will be easier If the content is organized based on meeting date. Also, the structure should be consistent among the faculties. It's fine by me More classroom audio of deep discussions and video or audio of discussions about the activities that are happening in the class. Videos of the lectures would be great if it were possible keep the content up the entire program Don's classes have recorded power point slides, but some of the other classes do not. It would be great if all were. I do not know Not sure... Video An online tutorial of blackboard or would go along way toward clearing up confusion when it comes to navigating blackboard. It would be nice to have the links to to any video or audio content that is not downloadable so that we can continue to access that content once we can no longer access the course in bblearn. It might be helpful for the instructors to use a smart board and post the information that they write on the board on bblearn. It appears that professors utilize the tool better than others. It is nice to be able and go back and view or hear a class that you have missed, however some professors post old PP or lectures, which may not reflect the true discussion in the current class The menu and interface has been bulky and slow. Formatting from Word into BBLearn not good. Overall, I would term it cumbersome. I just started using a PM software to adapt to my business role. I like the simplicity and interface....Basecamp. Tracking my projects in an organized fashion. They have free trial periods available. What do you like about the conference calls? I have the chance to ask questions that were not asked in class. n/a N/A If I ask a question I can get a correct answer straight from the instructor. It is a great tool if you have to miss a class. I believe it helps keep you plugged into the professors the professor's willingness to get on Being able to discuss the assignments and see what the professor is actually looking for. I am not a100% online client, however I am more online this semester and I think the conf. calls are very helpful. They give the client the opportunity to get a summary of what was talked about in class and to ask questions and get a quick response instead of having to email the instructor and wait on an answer. Being able to ask questions and discover subject matter and points of view that come out during the calls has given me several ideas to take with me. Catch up on what was missed in class. Ask questions The conference calls are good for Q&A discussion. But generally speaking, I felt like the profs treated the conference calls as an "after thought" If I am unable to attend a class for some reason I still have an opportunity to listen to the lectures and then ask questions or carry on a discussion with the instructor and other class members. Connection...started out in person, so I have a direct connection with the others on the CC. Likely not so for other remote clients. 7. What could be done to make the conference calls more valuable? They need to be a little more one on one. n/a N/A An activity maybe, but a conference call is what it is, which is informative. Maybe that is all it needs to be. Not sure. more frequently Not sure.... While being mostly an in class client. Having the opportunity to meet in a forum and be able to ask the instructor about content after the class had met is added value. Not sure... Hold Calls every week after a class meeting A formal agenda for the conference calls would help for more efficient use of time. Also, I think video conferencing might help. Make sure that class lectures and content are posted well before the conference call, (a week or more), so that clients have time to review the content prior to attending the call. Strongly encourage students to prepare for the call by listening to the lectures so that there is informed discussion. The call should not be treated as a substitute for the lecture They are what they are, a way for people to catch up. If they were positioned to further the class discussion that would give in class students more of a reason to participate Send out objective and stick to the script-then go into free flow/open forum discussions. 8. It is always available during the course period. N/A It is convenient when you can't make the class meeting. I like that most classes offer an online component. It is a great option for the working student I was happy with the videos and PPT The videos and audio that is uploaded. I am slightly bias toward the BBLearn system. Having done my undergrad studies at UAB, I was use to the type of BBLearn content delivery. I do not know what could make it better. Maybe student that came from another college would have an out of the box thinking of what could be done better. The flexibility of the program I like the way they record and post the slides for everything. I like that assignments are turned in to BBLearn. And lectures are available I like the ability to make up a class that I was not able to attend. I also like the ability to review the material after the class and even after the course is finished. It does give clients the opportunity to catch up if they missed a session or have a way to go back and refresh on information if an exam is coming up. I'd prefer to attend in person to get the whole of the dynamic, but I also enjoy not "having to attend" (feeling obligated). Mixed feelings there 10. What would make the online delivery of IEM better? . Availability of previous semester contents would be helpful. N/A Make it more interactive in certain situations. More video based content. Make it more consistent More content available online. As an in-class client I definitely love the peer interaction. Having the opportunity to connect with one another, bounce ideas off each other and plus I believe it helps with accountability. As technology advances and become more affordable, maybe the classes will offer ways for online-clients to have that optional interaction. However the online option does what it is suppose to, which is to give the client the option of time to access the content 24/7 because they are not able to make it to class. Not sure Video of feed during class Perhaps a "call-in" option during class, or a video conferencing option during class would help with online delivery. ake it more like the in person delivery so that there is no need to require online students to complete additional assignments. Use more video in the delivery. Maybe have a mechanism for students to watch video of the lecture and submit their questions on the spot. Those questions could then be answered by the instructor and discussed by the class during the conference call. Better production quality. And again, all of the professors do not use it More Skype/Audio and Visual CC's. How do we conduct business today? Should we not treat this similarly? Face to face, however you define is better. The AV for the summer seminar, etc has been a bit of a bummer. I'd like to have the opportunity to remotely sit in on classes when I can or choose not to (in an ideal situation). Hard to really qualify as I started local, then relocated.
