COURSE DESCRIPTION
The English Language Institute’s (ELI) Upper Intermediate English for Business Communication gives
learners tools to both improve their knowledge of the business world and to help learners apply current
knowledge in using workplace communication. While students explore such areas as finance,
marketing, and human resources, they are exposed to relevant vocabulary and grammatical structures
through business articles and texts taken from popular business periodicals. This gives their students
real-world context and better enables learners to apply their new skills and knowledge immediately.
COURSE GOALS
1. Students learn to become independent learners so that they can better take control
over their own English development outside the classroom.
2. Students will acquire the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills necessary to
succeed and perform efficiently in the workplace using English.
Students will integrate their reading, writing, and speaking skills to promote creative thinking
and independent learning.
