Important Curriculum Notes
Psychology Core Classes

Psychology 220, 221/222, and 335 are a sequence of classes and cannot be taken concurrently.
(i.e. you cannot take psychology 221/222 until you have taken 220 and cannot take 335 until you
have completed both 220 and 221/222)
General and Applied Psychology Electives

Some electives are exclusive to either the Spring or Fall semesters. Planning ahead on which you
plan on taking is generally recommended
Foreign Language/Computer Science



You must choose to take either 4 courses (12 hours) or computer science in any sequence OR 4
courses (12 hours) of foreign language
Foreign Language must be taken in sequence (101, 102, 201, 202)
Switching to a different language or moving from one choice to the other will result in the
remaining classes becoming electives.
Natural Science Requirements



You must complete General Biology 151 and the lab 152. No exceptions are made for this course
In addition you must complete a second physical science and the corresponding lab. This can
include CHEM 101/CLAB 103, PHYS 191/PLAB 193, OR ESSC 101/ESSL 103 (Chemistry,
Physics, OR Earth and Space Science AND the corresponding lab)
Finally, you must also take a sequenced science course. This means any course that requires
GBIO 151/BIOL 152 OR the physical science class of your choice. These courses will depend on
your previous choices and should be discussed with your advisor. (Example: You take GBIO
151/BIOL 152 AND ESSC 101/ESSL 103. You could take GBIO 153/BIOL 154 or ESSC
102/ESSL 104)
Other Course Notes

If you decide to take Art 105 or 106, you must only choose ONE. Taking both will not count
toward your arts requirements and you would still have to take THEA 131 or MUSC 151
Possible Social Science Electives
In addition to the 21 hours of general electives you may take as a psychology major, that can be
used to obtain a minor or as you see fit, you must also take one Social Science Elective. These electives
are chosen from Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Geography, and Anthropology. Below are
most of the available classes you could take to fulfill this requirement.
