POSITION DESCRIPTION Design Officer Volunteer or Staff: Volunteer Location: Phnom Penh or Remote (from volunteer home base) Time Commitment: 5 - 10 hours per week Reporting to: Direct reports: Communications Manager Other key relationships Internal: Fundraising Manager Managing Director Other team members as directed by the Communications Manager External: Position Purpose: To meet the ongoing demands in graphic designing and desktop publishing for OIC: The Cambodia Project, we are seeking a Volunteer Design Officer to join our small but successful team. Reporting directly to the Communications Manager, this role is responsible for providing graphic designing and desktop publishing support for our communication activities (internal and external) across all channels of communication. The Design Officer, will also provide design support to the Fundraising Manager, Managing Director and team members as directed by the Communications Manager. Key Areas of Responsibility: 1. Supporting the Communications Manager and other team members in developing digital and print communication materials, for example: OIC run a Birthday Heroes fundraising campaign on an ongoing basis. As our design officer you will get to put your creative powers into practise by designing an OIC superhero along with other graphic assets for this campaign. 1 2. Ensure communication materials adhere to the OIC brand standards 3. Produce digital designs in a timely fashion for OIC's use externally. 4. Produce high quality photographs and video clips as required to support OIC's ability to advocate for and promote speech therapy in Cambodia. Person Specification: Essential qualifications, experience, skills, and personal attributes: Demonstrated experience in delivering digital and print communication materials (internal and external) across all channels of communication While the position is open to non-graduates, preference will be given to those with relevant degrees in graphic design, art or communications Experience producing print and digital communication materials (work portfolio required when applying for this position) Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign) and other related design software Exceptional design skills and attention to detail Excellent time management and organisational skills Easy to work with. Any applicant who can commit greater than three months or has flexibility to extend their commitment after the volunteering term will be at an advantage. Location of position The volunteer may choose to be based in Phnom Penh or contribute remotely from their home location. Applicants working remotely who are based in the Asia-Pacific region are likely to find it is easier to work around time zones, however applicants are invited to apply from any country. Volunteers based in Phnom Penh will: Have access to a working space within OIC's offices Have access to a shared printer Be required to provide their own laptop and office supplies Phnom Penh is a modern city with all available amenities that someone coming from overseas could wish for. Free wireless internet is everywhere and the mobile networks are excellent. Accommodation is easy to find in Phnom Penh. There are many apartments in Phnom Penh, ranging from an average US$2002 US$500 (this is the average amount) per month depending on location, individual or shared accommodation.
