Name: ___________________________ Date: _________________________ Scientific Method Project You are going to start a mini-project on the scientific method. For this project you will have to create one of the following showing the use of the scientific method when making dinner: - A comic A song/rap A series of Tweets A series of Facebook updates A story When working on this project you will need to show how the scientific method is used when making dinner. The rubric on the back gives further instructions. Everyone should be aiming to get a hundred which means you will want to look at the exemplary column. With this project you should make sure to make it fun and exciting, which means you can include evil characters, hash tags, comments, likes, response tweets and so one. The main point is that you will demonstrate a strong understanding of the scientific method. Below are the steps and definitions of the six steps to help you. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Observation – to notice something with your five senses Question – Wanting to know more information Hypothesis – A prediction about the answer to the question Experiment – To test something out Analyze – To take the information and make sense of it or to study and examine it Conclusion – What you learned from the experiment Remember when you hand something in it should be presentable, meaning neat and clean. Even if you are completing a song or a rap it must be written out so that I can collect it. I look forward to seeing all of your projects. Includes All Six Steps Identification of the steps by using the actual word Creativity Demonstrates an understanding of the material Beginning (1 point) Has only three of six steps (This is where the step is shown or explained as being completed within the project.) Uses only three of the six key words Developing (2 points) Has only four of six steps (This is where the step is shown or explained as being completed within the project.) Uses only four of the six key words Accomplished (3 points) Has only five of six steps(This is where the step is shown or explained as being completed within the project.) Uses only five of the six key words Exemplary (4 points) Has all six steps (This is where the step is shown or explained as being completed within the project.) Uses all six of the key words Does not complete the assignment as expected and lacks creativity Completes the assignment and includes all necessary steps Completes the assignment and makes it enjoyable to read by including some additional details Student struggles with the concepts and does not demonstrate mastery Student has a basic understanding of the content but is still not completely mastering Student demonstrates a solid understanding of the content Completes the assignment and makes it fun by going above by not only including additional details but also having more content and adding different elements such as pictures, colors, hash-tags, likes, or comments Student shows an understanding of the skills and can transfer the scientific method to other examples
