Project Overview
The client is a corporate law firm based in North America. It was interested in partnerships with Indian companies in sectors
such as investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and corporate law to help them in financing and listing on
Canadian stock exchanges, etc. It wanted Evalueserve to prepare a list of prospective partners in India, based in Delhi,
Bangalore, or Mumbai, and schedule appointments with them.

about 20 companies, but interviews were to be scheduled with executives from any 10 of them.

Project Overview
The client is a corporate law firm based in North America. It wanted Evalueserve to prepare a sales collateral to be used
during its meetings with potential partners in India. The collateral was meant to give an overview about the client and sell
Canada as a prospective market to raise capital. The client was interested in partnerships with Indian companies in sectors
such as investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and corporate law, and looked forward to help Indian companies
in financing and listing on Canadian stock exchanges, etc.
Work Approach
The project team used secondary research to obtain data for the presentation. Some information was provided by the client
as well. The sources of information were the websites of the client, the Toronto Stock Exchange, the department of
international trade for Canada, and a general Internet search.

publications were identified through a search conducted on Delphion, Micropatent, Patent Abstracts of Japan, IEEE, ACM, IP.com,
Findarticles, Sciencedirect.com, and Citeseer databases.
 Citation analysis: Citation analysis was conducted for the patent in consideration as well as the patent publications that were found relevant
during the project.

MKMV Model Analysis for Hedge Fund Portfolio as part of a Bank’s Overall Portfolio
Project Overview
The client is a Japanese investment bank. The following were the objectives of the research:




Implementation of Moody’s KMV credit risk model on hedge fund portfolio
Finding out credit risk for the hedge fund portfolio as part of the bank’s overall portfolio
Finding out improvements in risk – Return profile of the bank’s portfolio due to the hedge fund portfolio (value added by hedge fund portfolio)
Sensitivity analysis of a bank’s portfolio with respect to weights of hedge funds in the overall portfolio
Work Approach
The project team conducted the research in the following phases:
 Phase 1: This phase involved applying MKMV Model on the hedge funds portfolio.

Applying LGD-based loss distribution on the hedge fund portfolio through simulating and identifying the best suite LGD parameter
Simulation run for risk analysis and tail risk capital allocation for the hedge fund portfolio
 Phase 2: This phase involved running similar simulation on the bank’s overall portfolio with the hedge fund portfolio as one component.
 Phase 3: This phase involved running similar simulation on the bank’s overall portfolio for sensitivity analysis with respect to weights of the hedge
fund portfolio.

Risk Mgt. Project 2:
Constructing an Efficient Frontier and Building Portfolio Optimization Model
Project Overview
The client is a large Australian bank. The objective of the research was to prove the hypothesis that adding infrastructure
stocks increases the return of a diversified index.
Work Approach
The project team conducted the research in the following phases:




Phase 1: This phase included the development of an efficient frontier model.
Phase 2: This phase included running the model for various combinations of portfolio (including and excluding infrastructure stocks).
Phase 3: This phase included an analysis of the leftward shift in the efficient frontier due to inclusion of infrastructure stocks in the portfolio.
Phase 4: This phase included one-way ANOVA for returns of each index vis-à-vis the infrastructure index.

An executive was suing a former employer (a tableware company) alleging age discrimination during layoff.
Work Approach
The following was the sequence of events:
 Employer claimed extraordinary economic circumstances led to the situation.

 A recently retired CEO of a competitor testified regarding economic conditions.
 Another former employee served as a fact witness regarding the corporate culture at the company.
 The CEO’s testimony was particularly influential in winning the case.

Project Overview
A testimony was required regarding competitive compensation in the cosmetics industry and roles of the board/CEO in
deciding executive packages.
Work Approach
The following was the sequence of events:
 Readily available executives in the NYC area were reluctant to testify against nearby competitors.
 Circle of Experts provided an ex-CEO from California, who had experience in establishing independent boards and setting incentives for product
launch.
