Regulations South Wales Volleyball League is a local league aimed at providing player opportunities and a chance to develop volleyball, coaching and refereeing skills throughout the area. Each team has a representative on the committee and it is anticipated that whilst the league will be competitive, the organisation and procedures rely on the teams and committee to work together with the best interest of the league and teams involved. Specific league rules are as follows: 1. Payments – Team entry is £60 per team payable by 1st Sept 2015. There will be no charges for player registrations this year however, ALL PLAYERS must be registered before any match they play in. 2. Rules - All matches are to be played to the latest Volleyball England / FIVB rules and it is the coach and players responsibility to have an understanding of these rules. The only exception is that there will be NO technical time-outs during the sets. 3. Duration - Matches will be best of three sets, played to 25 (by 2 clear points), or to 15 (2 clear points) in the third set if required. Three league points will be awarded for a win and one league point for a loss. a. All teams are asked to play three sets regardless of the match score. The final set in a 2-0 win will not be counted in the league, but will provide additional opportunities to play as much as possible. 4. Scoring - All matches will be recorded on an official international score sheet (3 x carbonated sheets). One copy to be given to the away team, one for the home team and the top copy to be sent to the League Secretary at the address below. A photo of the score sheet will be accepted via email if preferable to sending via post. 5. Results – All set / match results are to be emailed to yperkins@cardiffmet.ac.uk or text to 07880 547861 within 24 hours of the match being played, and will be ratified by the hard copy of the score sheet. 6. Equipment – It is the responsibility of the home team to provide 2 x fixed volleyball posts, 1 match quality net with aerials, 1 x International Score pad, 1 x flip scoreboard, 1 x match quality ball, 6 x line up sheets*. 7. Match personnel – It is the responsibility of the home team to provide the following officials as a minimum: a. 1 x Qualified 1st Referee b. 1 x 2nd Referee (preferably qualified) c. 1 x competent scorer who is comfortable completing International Score sheets d. If possible 2 x line judges 8. Player lists – Both teams are to provide a player list* at the start of each game, which includes Registration Number, Shirt number, Forename and Surname of players involved in that match. Players must be registered before they can play. Details of players can be found on the Volleyball Wales website along with Player Registration forms*. 9. Players – Players can only play for ONE team in the South Wales league. If they need to transfer, then this should be discussed with the League Secretary and written consent must be received from the registered team prior to completion of the transfer. 10. Confirming fixtures – It is the responsibility of the home team to book and confirm the match details with the away team, two weeks in advance of the fixture. 11. Rearranging fixtures – If a team has problems fulfilling a fixture, then this should be highlighted with the League Secretary as soon as known. Efforts should be made with the opposing team, to rearrange the match within two weeks of the original date to avoid overloading games at different times of the season. The League Secretary should be provided with the agreed revised date via email, copied to the opposing team. 12. Cancelled fixtures – After a fixture is arranged if either side cancel within 5 days of the fixture, the other team will be award the match 25-0; 25-0. 13. League points will be decided as follows: a. League points b. Sets ratio (sets for – sets against) c. Points ratio (points for – points against) d. Matches between the two teams 14. Appeals – Any appeals against the rules of the South Wales League (SWL) should be forwarded by email or in writing to the League Secretary within 2 weeks of the final fixture. The decision of the Committee will be final. 15.
