1. Final approval has been received to offer college course credit (“K”) for
the course, EDUC 2110, which is a statewide collegiate introductory
course in Education. Secondary students who successfully complete the
Secondary Certificate in Education and Teaching and the three required
courses in the Teaching as a Profession pathway, and receive a passing
grade on the End of Pathway Assessment Test are eligible.
2. Early Childhood Education will have Industry Certification available this
year with the Georgia Association of Young Children. Ten schools are in
the process this school year.

teachers and students in the most efficient
manner possible.

will be consolidated, eliminated, and revised as
necessary to meet the challenges all of us face.

Changes to Fall Drive In Meetings
• All Fall Drive-In meetings for Agricultural
Education will be hosted through the Elluminate
Live Program. http://www.elluminate.com
– North Region will hold their meeting on September
9, 2008 from 3:30-4:30p.m.
– Central Region will hold their meeting on September
10, 2008 from 4:00-5:00p.m.
– South Region will hold their meeting on September
11, 2008 from 3:30-5:00p.m.
Young Farmer Revisions
• State Wide Young Farmer meeting planned for
September 10 at Camp John Hope has been
cancelled.
• Regional meetings will be held to hold down the
cost of travel.
• Monsanto Showcase Field Day scheduled for
September 11 has been cancelled.

CTAE administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, and system
FTE and Student Record staff should verify that CTAE course
numbers are correct
Currently, two GaDOE rules are in place
containing funded course numbers.

Phase I End-of-Pathway Assessment Update
End-of-pathway assessment identification activities have
concluded for Phase I Career Pathway
 GaDOE Executive Cabinet approval has been received
 CTAE will now proceed with piloting activities in December
2008 , for the eight (8) Phase I career pathways
 In order for piloting activities to be successful, we need
YOUR SUPPORT!!
 If you have students who are completers in one of the
Phase I Career Pathways, please consider having those
students to participate in the pilot assessment.

National Career Pathways Leadership
Certification Training
– Two-day training to be held on October 9 (Gwinnett) and
December 3, 2008 (Macon) and is still scheduled!
– Limited to one CTAE director per system. Substitutes may be
sent.

Certification Remote Workshop”
– A “remote workshop” has been developed with CORD for a
limited number of CTAE Directors who are not able to
attend the Oct. & Dec. 2008 on-site training
– Remote Training will begin in January 2009
and be completed by February 16, 2009.
– Registration details will be given at a later date.
– Cost will be the $100 registration fee.

(HSTW)
• HSTW student reports and awards were mailed
June 5, 2008 to each school that has taken the
FY 2008 HSTW Assessment.
• HSTW Assessment results will be mailed to schools on
August 29, 2008.
• MMGW Assessment results will be mailed on
September 26 2008.

• HSTW Annual Site Progress Report deadline is:

Perkins Designations for
CTAE Students
• Participant – A student who is enrolled in or has taken a
CTAE class during his/her high school career
• Concentrator – A participant that has taken a minimum of
three CTAE classes in a program concentration during
his/her high school career
• Completer – A concentrator who completes the
requirements of the High School Graduation Test (GHSGT)
and also the specified course requirements (three
sequenced courses) for a particular CTAE pathway
Work-Based Learning (WBL)
Enrollment for Concentrators
• A Work-Based Learning enrollment (new or old numbers)
should count in any CTAE concentration in both the old and the
new graduation rule.
• Work-Based Learning Placement Criteria located on pages 6-4
through 6-14 in the Career Related Education (CRE) Manual.
• Work-Based Learning courses are not part of the specified three
course sequence in a pathway.
• Some pathways have a fourth course option that is an internship
with specified standards for the training plan. The Work-Based
Learning Coordinator may or may not be involved in these
courses.

Georgia C-NET Update
• Components - Student Data, Employer Data, Training Plans,
Work/Wage Information, Evaluation and Assessment, Reports.
• To meet state standard for training plans, the training plan developer
in C-NET should be used.
• All categories of WBL Coordinators, YAP Coordinators, CTI and
CCAE Coordinators should use C-NET. Multiple WBL coordinators
may be designated at each school. Facilitators share access with a
system level YAP Coordinator or a RESA YAP Coordinator.
• Users should have a profile on ctaern.org (no software to install) and
have access designated by the CTAE System or School Contact. If
authorized, C-NET appears on left menu of their ctaern.org home
page.

Work-Based Learning (WBL)
Workshops and Endorsement Update
• Curriculum for the WBL Prep Program was developed during
2007-2008 school year as a three (3) course sequence
– Course 1 and 2 is a technical update workshop for all WBL
Coordinators and may be counted as step one of an endorsement
program if approved by PSC. (80 contact hours or 8 PLUs).
– Course 3 is an internship/on-site practicum that consists of 2
satisfactory on-site observations during the school year.
– Currently, efforts are underway to offer Course 3 internship to the
summer 2008 cohort through an existing provider.
– This WBL Prep program is designed to meet the existing standards of
the DCT endorsement.
– Teachers with the DCT endorsement do not need to take Course 3.
Youth Apprenticeship Program
Annual Assessment Update
• Each system must apply for Youth Apprenticeship Grant
funds via the consolidated application process.
• Each grant recipient must submit an Annual Youth
Apprenticeship Assessment to continue receiving funding.

OF PERFORMANCE (TARGET)
Getting familiar with some of the
common terms used
CTE Participant
• A participant is a student who has earned
one (1) or more credits in a career and
technical education (CTE) program area.
Data Source: Student Record
CTE Concentrator
• A concentrator is a student who took at
least three career technical education
courses in a particular program area
during his/her high school career.
Data Source: Student Record
What are Performance Indicators?
• Statistics that "indicate" something about the
performance of a state, district, school, or program;
• Designed to support continuous program improvement
Why?
• Performance Indicators show progress and
achievements
• Suggest areas for improvement
• Monitor changes over time
• Required by the Fed to continue funding CTE
1S1 Academic Achievement
1S1: Academic Attainment – Reading/Language Arts
Numerator: Number of concentrators who have met or exceeded
Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) NCLB
assessment in reading/language arts on NCLB assessments and
have left secondary education in the reporting year.
Denominator: Number of concentrators who took Georgia High
School Graduation Test (GHSGT) NCLB assessment in
reading/language arts and who have left secondary education in
the reporting year.
Actual Performance: Divide the number of students who met or
exceeded standards by the number of students tested (Meets +
Exceeds/Number Tested).
1S2 Academic Achievement
1S2:Academic Attainment – Mathematics
Numerator: Number of concentrators who have met Georgia High
School Graduation Test (GHSGT) NCLB assessment in
mathematics on NCLB assessments and have left secondary

4S1 Graduation Rate
Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators, who, in the reporting
year, were included as graduated in the State’s computation of its
graduation rate as described in Section 1111(b)(2)(C)(vi) of the
ESEA.
Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators, who, in the reporting
year, were included in the State’s computation of its graduation
rate as defined in the State’s Consolidated Accountability Plan
pursuant to Section 1111(b)(2)(C)(vi) of the ESEA.
Student Graduation Rate: Student Graduation Rate will be calculated using the same calculation used
for calculating graduation rate used for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), but only students
identified as a CTE concentrator will be included.
Actual Performance:
Graduation Rate = # of regular diplomas ÷ (# of regular diplomas + # of special education diplomas + # of
certificates of attendance + # of dropouts in 12th grade {current year}, 11th grade {current year -1}, 10th grade
{current year -2} and 9th grade {current year -3})

The CTAE Reports for the Core
Indicators are located under the Data
Reporting Tab at the top right of the
web page.
Reports can be viewed by State, District
(System) or School.
State Data can be viewed by selecting State, then clicking on the
Perkins IV Tab to display the 3 Core Indicators options.
You can select from several options using the drop-down
arrow to display the list of Georgia State Performance
Rate for any of the 3 Core indicators.
To view Data for a System select “District.”
You have the choice of Using either the Geographical
Map or the Alphabetical List to select a system.
Selecting a System from the Alphabetical list and clicking on
Perkins IV, will allow you to see information on any of the
3 Core indicators for that System.
Data can be viewed at the County
level as shown here!
Data can also be viewed at the School Level
(to locate information at the school level it is easier to use the
Geographical Map; to select a system click on the system’s name)
Once the System’s Map is Displayed
Choose “Schools.”
This will display a list of the schools, and
you can select the one you want to view.
You can view Data on any of the 3 Core Indicators for a
specific school using any of the Options in the Dropdown List .
