How Solar Works
Sunlight to Electricity
Backup Battery to hold on cloudy days
No pollution!
Can sell to the grid
Wind is the future
equivalent of:
 Recycling 4,500 glass jars
Recycling 6,900 aluminum cans
Recycling 1,150 lbs of steel
 Fastest growing renewable
energy source – over a decade

Solar for NH
In 2009 New Hampshire Consumed 229
BTUs per person ( British Thermal Unit(s) )
•Average utility savings: $61/month*
•25-year utility savings: $18,169*
•Increase in property value: $8,660
BTU is a unit of energy equivalent to 1055
joules (heat value) \
Joule= the unit of energy, equal to the
work done by a force of one Newton when its
point of application moves through a
distance of one meter in the direction of the
force
Average American uses 308 BTUs
,House Bill 0873, signed into law May 2007
by New Hampshire Governor John Lynch.
The “Electric Renewable Portfolio Standard”
will require electric utilities to utilize solar
power for 0.3% of their electrical power
generation by the year 2014. The law also
requires that by 2025, 16% of the state’s
electricity needs must be supplied by other
renewable energy sources

Win-Win
“Wind can generate as much as 20% of
our electricity by 2030 and create a
quarter-million jobs in the process –
jobs that pay well and provide good
benefits. It’s a win-win. It’s good for the
environment; it’s great for the
economy.”
President Barack Obama
Earth Day 2009
Benefits!
Solar power is a renewable resource. This means
that we are not in danger of depleting its reserves.
Though it may disappear behind clouds
momentarily and is unavailable at night, it
generally returns in full force.
•Solar power is non-polluting. Unlike oil, solar
power usage does not emit any greenhouse gases,
nor does the acquisition of it harm ecosystems
through spills or dredging. This is probably one of
the primary advantages of solar power.
•The energy and heat from the sun is free. Once
solar panels or solar thermal collectors are set up,
there are no electrical expenses necessary to
power them
The sun generates more than 10,000 times the
amount of energy the entire world consumes
annually
The Facts
One 1.8 MW wind turbine at a decent
site can produce over 4,7 million units
of electricity every year, that is enough
to ensure the annual needs of over
1,000 households, or to run a computer
for over 1,620 years.

My Proposal
Invest in Wind Power and Solar and
create a system for New Hampshire
that lowers the energy bills our citizens
pay every month and create a greener
granite state
Purchase the solar trees for our cities
and sell to the grid
So when is the light gonna go off in
your head!
We HAVE to be green
That or…. We destroy the planet…
Including New Hampshire
