My Hero Presentations by Mrs Bonney’s Class Lynnwood Elementary Spring 2008 Harriett Tubman by Chalon • Harriet Tubman ran away from slavery an into freedom and was hit with a 2 lb brick when she was trying to escape. She helped other slave escape through the underground railroad •Harriet Tubman was a hero because she led over 300 slaves to safety and not one got caught. She was very proud of all of them. She established the route that helped other slaves escape from the south to gain their freedom in the north. Harriett Tubman by Chalon In 1821, Harriet Tubman was born as a slave. They had crashed in 1908 At their young adult age they made thier first plane. And Wilburs death was May 30, 1912. Orvilles death was january 30, 1948. At the time 1903 they made a engine . The brothers had there flyer11 was the longest plane ride. they both died from a heart attak. Wilbur died from age 45 and Oriville at age 76. Elizabeth Blackwell by Yana • Elizabeth Blackwell is a medical hero. She became the first woman doctor in 1850. She opened a hospital and a college for women in America. •I chose Elizabeth Blackwell as my hero becausee she was the first woman doctor and has inspired so many women to become doctors and surgeons. In 1869, she left for England and in 1874 she opened the London School of Medecine for women. Middle age Elizabeth bacame a docter 1859-1910. Elizabeth Blackwell Childhood Elizabeth was very stubborn and determined Elizabeth had opened a school and tought young ladies. Young adult Elizabeth Blackwell was exepted into a medical college Corrie Ten Boom by Meghan • Corrie Ten Boom was a Dutch Lady who took jews and hid them from the Nazis during WWII. Corrie helped hid jews from nazis1997. Corrie said nothing can seporate ous from Gods love. Corries dad died during camp 1981. Corries family had to go to a camp a bad camp 1998. Betsie Corries sister had got really sick. Corrie went to see Betsie almost every day. So sick she had to go to the hospital and sleep over. All they ate at camp was soup. Corrie died April 15th 1983. Marie Curie by Andra • Marie Curie is a Scientist Hero. In 1903 she received the Nobel Prize in Physics with her husband Pierre Curie. •Marie Curie devoted her life to Science. Irene was born in 1897 and Eve was born in 1904. 1898 1903 M arie taught classes in Paris. She also did science experiments. In 1898 M arie and Pierre discovered radium. Radium is a white element. 1911 1934 1914 Radium was important in science. Doctors treated cancer with it. In 1903, M arie and Pierre won the Nobel prize in physics for their work with radium. Pierre died in 1906. M arie kept working in the lab. In 1911, M arie won the Nobel prize for chemistry. She was the first person to win two Nobel prizes. M arie founded the radium institute in.
