SHUTTERFLY PARTNERS WITH OLIVIA PALERMO, BRIT MORIN AND MICHELLE WORKMAN FOR SECOND ANNUAL SHUTTERFLY BY DESIGN HOME DÉCOR EXPERIENCE Designers Bring Three Unique Aesthetics to Transform Living Room Spaces REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 26, 2014 – Shutterfly, the market leader in digital personalized photo products and services, partnered with Olivia Palermo, Brit Morin and Michelle Workman to design an inspiring home décor experience that showcased Shutterfly’s suite of products. Each designer was given a 200-square-foot living room and was invited to let their imagination run wild as they transformed the rooms into distinctive living spaces with hand-picked furnishings, carefully-curated accents and personalized Shutterfly home décor offerings. For one day only, Shutterfly by Design featured these exquisite spaces which included Shutterfly’s full-range of customizable photo products, including metal prints, wood wall art, glass prints, decorative pillows, decals, dishware, table runners, blankets, and more. Olivia Palermo – internationally-recognized fashion insider and entrepreneur – seamlessly incorporated her fashion-forward sense of style into the interior design space with a muted color palette, gold accents and sleek silhouettes for an all-around contemporary feel. She brought her fashion inspiration to life with product featuring her own sketches and textures and patterns throughout the room inspired by the runway. “Building a room is like building a wardrobe – start with the basic, classic items and add interesting and unusual little touches throughout, like throw pillows, wall hangings and artwork accumulated on your travels and everyday life,” said Palermo. “Working with Shutterfly has allowed me to push the boundaries and think about how I can create my own unique accent pieces with the sketches, images and visuals that inspire me on a daily basis.” Brit Morin – DIY expert and founder and CEO of Brit + Co. – created a modern living room by pairing solid, neutral mid-century furniture with cheerful pops of color, geometric patterns, bright photography, and a myriad of textures. She produced a cohesive design by repeating bold patterns and color palettes throughout the room. Morin also incorporated a number of unique do-it-yourself projects that transformed everyday materials and furnishings into eye-catching works of art, including a washi wallpaper installation, coffee tables made with Shutterfly’s wood wall art, and a console transformed with one-of-a-kind Shutterfly decals. “We’re all artists and we all have the potential to bring our creative visions to life. That’s why I love Shutterfly – the site allows anyone to turn a blank canvas print or a clear piece of glass into a work of art,” said Morin. “In my living room, I used Shutterfly to turn a variety of images - including drawings, vector patterns and photographs - into decorative pieces, and then I’ve personalized it further with fun DIY projects on top of that!” Michelle Workman – considered one of interior design’s top tastemakers, who’s put her stamp on the homes of Hollywood A-listers (Jennifer Lopez, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley), top Silicon Valley execs and Manhattan philanthropists – created an elegant and sophisticated living space. She paired rich, dark colors with bright reds and pinks for a unique juxtaposition. Workman added her own flare to the space by mixing traditional furniture with rich patterns, Chinoiserie imagery, and faux wallpaper created with Shutterfly’s acrylic prints for a dramatic and attention-grabbing effect. “Photos and images have the potential to completely transform a room. I’m always on the lookout for unique artwork and interesting photos from past and present to add extra depth and communicate the personality of the client,” said Workman. “I love using Shutterfly to come up with new and inventive ways to display these images and help tell the story of my client’s life. I even had my own ‘Debauched Debutante’ photo shoot just so I could have some fun with photography and experiment with all of the different printing options and mediums.” In addition to the rooms decorated by Palermo, Morin and Workman, Shutterfly’s design team created a Bohemian outdoor movie space, a nautical bathroom and a colorful studio apartment decked out for the holidays. Bloggers Kim Stoegbauer from The Tomkat Studio and Jennifer Hadfield from Tatertots and Jello combined their creative visions to design a shabby chic nursery with a warm and inviting pink and gray color scheme.
