LESSON PLAN: NERVOUS SYSTEM DAY 1 Agenda: 1. Correct NOTEBOOK. 2. DISCUSS NEW READING METHOD: GRAPHIC ORGANIZER—PAGES 236-244. 3. DISCUSS DISEASE & DISORDERS plus D&D of INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM. 4. DVD: STANDARD DEVIANTS NERVOUS SYSTEM—up to the discussion on the CNS—I usually pause and discuss the video as it plays. 5. FLP HANDOUTS NEEDED NEW ASSIGNMENT LOG—I usually change the color with each unit ANATOMY COMMERCIALS-- I usually change the color with each unit ANATOMY COMMERICALS RECORD SHEET--I usually change the color with each unit DISEASE & DISORDERS NOTE PAGE (both the power point & the notepage are found in the tissues unit folder) FLP LESSON PLAN: NERVOUS SYSTEM DAY 2 Agenda: 1. SET: HANDOUT: BRAIN & SPINAL CORD-LABEL 2. Finish Standard Deviants DVD. 3. Discuss HANDOUT Nervous System ORGANIZATION 4. LAB: STUDY PRINT-YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM 5. Homework reading pages 252-258 6. FLP HANDOUTS NEEDED HANDOUT: BRAIN & SPINAL CORD NERVOUS SYSTEM ORGANIZATION STUDY PRINT PACKET: YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM FLP LESSON PLAN: NERVOUS SYSTEM DAY 4 Agenda: 1. SET: LABEL BRAIN DIAGRAM FROM HANDOUTS 2. ACTIVITY: PLAYDOH BRAIN—CLAY MAGIC BRAIN These brain diagram for the PLAYDOH brain and describe the lobes of the brain using the digital viewer. Students divide their brain diagram and list functions of each lobe as it is discussed. Students then use PLAYDOH or Clay Magic to construct each lobe including the cerebellum. 3. LAB: STUDY PRINT: YOUR BRAIN 4. TERMS & FC: 8-2 5. HOMEWORK READING PAGES 245-251 6. FLP HANDOUTS NEEDED BRAIN DIAGRAM FROM HANDOUTS PLAYDOH BRAIN PAPER STUDY PRINT PACKET: YOUR BRAIN FLP LESSON PLAN: NERVOUS SYSTEM DAY 5 Agenda: 1. SET: Label THE MENINGES FROM TEXTBOOK PAGE 252. 2. CLASS NOTES-- go through class notes up until nerve conduction. 3. Discussion: Nerve conduction party. Refer to NOTES PAGES page in unit file. I usually have the students go over the notes with her table partner making sure that they understand the concepts about nerve conduction. The main emphasis is that nerve conduction is ion exchange. When I do this, I write as I talk using the digital viewer. I began with telling the students characters in the story which are on the right side of the notes. Then, I go through each step of nerve conduction. 4. Homework reading pages 258-267. 5. FLP HANDOUTS NEEDED THE MENINGES FILL IN NOTE PAGE ACTION POTENTIAL NERVOUS SYSTEM REVIEW PACKET FLP LESSON PLAN: NERVOUS SYSTEM DAY 6 Agenda: 1. SET: NAME & CIRCLES. I have the students write their name, first and last, three times a piece of paper as fast as they can. Then, if they are right-handed they do this with their left foot, if they are left-handed, the use the right foot. They proceed to draw with their foot in a clockwise direction a circle. Then, they are to attempt to write their name again three times as fast as they can. Because the right side of the brain controls the left and the left controls the right, some of the students will have difficulty doing this. You may have one or two who have no difficulty. This means they have very good connection between both lobes of their brain. 2. ACTIVITY: TEST YOURSELF + CHOOSING SIDES (LAST PAGE SHOWS HOW TO SCORE R/L BRAIN)—WHICH IS BEST? RIGHT OR LEFT? 3. HANDOUT: BRAIN HEMISPHERES PAGE 262. 4. FINISH CLASS NOTES. 5. HOMEWORK IS TO WORK ON REVIEW PACKET 6. FLP HANDOUTS NEEDED TEST YOURSELF CHOOSING SIDES WHICH IS BEST?
