Element 1 Assessment Activity: Time management planning Using a project that you are currently working on or one that you worked on in the past, obtain a copy of the project scope statement. Read the project scope statement then complete the following questions and tasks: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. How did the project constraints impact upon the time available to start and complete the project? How many schedules were proposed? Why was the one selected chosen? What tools and techniques to be used for time management activities were documented in the project scope statement? You will need to provide a WBS and provide estimations for human, material and equipment resources in a summary table similar to the one depicted below: Task no. What time management tools, techniques and processes were used to develop, monitor and control the project schedule? How effective were they in enabling the project team to identify the current status and variations to the schedule? How effective was the process to deal with schedule variations over the course of the project? What issues or problems with the use of time management techniques used throughout the project (e.g. difficulties with software programs, lack of training in scheduling software, etc.)? Describe one of these in detail. Which time management tools and techniques did you find easiest to use? Explain why this was easier compared to other tools and techniques used. Are there any other tools, techniques or processes that you would recommend be used in future projects? Which ones, and why? Did you make any recommendations about time management techniques to your project manager?
