Overview of the unit
<Provide a brief indication of the content and structure of the unit. Include information on unit structure eg
modules, topics etc.>
Teaching and Learning Strategies
<Provide a brief indication of how students will be expected to learn in the unit (eg. through case-based
learning, collaborative group work etc. individual contracts, experiential learning) and the methods for
receiving content (eg. lectures, audio, video, web-based or written materials, Learnline etc.). Also
indicate how students should pace their learning (eg. do they need to stick to a regular weekly schedule
or can they study the topics at their own pace, as long as they meet the assessment requirements?). Any
variations for students studying in Internal and External mode should be included here.>
Participation
<Provide a brief summary of participation requirements, including private study commitments (eg. one 4
hr workshop per week plus 6 hrs individual study over 12 weeks; access to online forums is required at
least three times per week, over about 3 hours plus about 7 hrs individual study per week, and for this a
broadband connection is required). Also include any compulsory attendance required such as intensive
or residential blocks, weekend workshops, laboratory classes etc. It is also helpful to include information
that sets your expectations of their involvement in the unit and what the students could expect from your
participation. For example, how you wish students to communicate to you- via email, through discussion
board topics and how often you will be present in the online environment to provide feedback and answer
their questions.
Any variation in requirements for students studying in Internal and External mode should also be included
here.>
