NIPEC meeting for the Independent and Voluntary Sector will be held on Thursday 25th June at 10am Centre House (opposite Victoria Square and Law Courts). The meetings are to assist Managers to focus on issues relating to Nursing Practice and also to offer peer support etc which will be critical for revalidation. The Lead for the Meetings is Senior Professional Officer Cathy McCusker. I am also sitting on the Steering Group for the 'Recording for Care Project' that has been rolled out over the 5 Trusts on behalf of the department. I discussed last week that I feel the Independent Sector should be represented, it would be helpful if you could ask for expressions of interest and I could then contact them directly and explain a bit more about the pilot. The aim is to have 1 regional document for Risk Assessment and Care Planning that is efficient and provides the legal information that needs to be recorded. The Lead for the Steering Group is Senior Professional Officer Angela Drury. I look forward to hearing from you. NIPEC are running some information sessions on revalidation – some of the dates are past but there are still plenty left 6. Volunteers required for RQIA’s Web Portal Pilot As part of RQIA’s programme of improving how services can communicate with us, we are introducing a new self-service web portal for providers during 2016. The web portal is designed to make the registration information on individual services held by RQIA more accessible to them, and will allow online submission and tracking of areas including incident reporting and changes to your registration. RQIA is inviting service providers, including IHCP members, to volunteer in a pilot scheme which will launch in November 2015. If you wish to be involved, please contact craig.young@rqia.org.uk 7. Dear IHCP Members I am currently undertaking a study exploring the perspectives of HCP’s and Family Care Givers of ACP for people with dementia. This is being undertaken in partial fulfilment for PhD within the School of Nursing at Ulster University. I am a nurse by background and have been previously involved in nursing home management so I am well aware of how precious your time is. Firstly, thank you to the large proportion of you who completed my survey in January. We achieved a 66% response rate and obtained some very interesting perspectives which I now hope to explore further. The second phase of this study will involve interviews with registered managers and GPs in conjunction with focus groups with registered nurses. The interviews can be by telephone or in person, at a time convenient to you. They should last around 30 minutes. Participation in interviews / focus groups can be recorded for NMC revalidation purposes. The focus groups should be made up of at least 4 nurses. I will come to the nursing home premises to undertake the focus groups and refreshments will be provided. Those of you are keen to hold recordable clinical supervision for your nurses will be provided with evidence of this from myself. Also as you will be aware this topic is very timely given the inspection themes for RQIA for 2015/2016. If you are interested in either the interview / and or/ focus group please email me for further information and a consent form. I look forward to hearing from you.
