 -One of the most important characteristics of ERP
systems is that they are built on a single comprehensive
database to share information across the enterprise.
ERP system integration, on the internal side, can be
assumed to be complete and comprehensive. And as
long as the ERP systems covers all of your information
management needs, and there are no external systems
or applications in place or planned, integration should
not be a concern.

 Homegrown system are made or develop by the company or organization which
best meet their unique need.
 Middleware third party software which help to integrate software application to
ERP
 Maintenance- managing the software and ERP when there are changes or
upgrading .
 Cost – company spend additional 50% budget of IT on application in integration.
 Communication between organization , people around must understand the
nature of integration and how it may effect the entire business.
CONCLUSION
 Homegrown system can help in unique need of the organization but they must
consider that ERP system may or may be successful because of this system
 Middleware is additional expense of the organization.
 The more system implemented the more system to be maintain.
 Cost – It is estimated that integration market is equal to the size of the entire ERP
market.
 Understanding by each part of organization may lead the ERP to be success.
RECOMMENDATION
 Bolt-on the homegrown system to ERP is part of integration but make sure that
ERP serve as Backbone for the entire system
 Middleware- many ERP company have their own third party vendor ask the ERP
company the list of updated middleware applicable to them
 Make schedule maintenance for both ERP and other system that is integrated
 If the ERP system can do all the needs of the organization better never integrate
another system
 Teamwork is the key of ERP success.
 ERP integration can be successful if everyone in organization is willing to
cooperate.
