Hit a ball off the cone (toward the wall) 5 times. 3 Dwight Eisenhower (our only president from Kansas!) loved to play golf. Using a hockey stick as a golf club, guide a ball around the gym 1 time. 4 Gerald Ford was a terrific football player! He was offered contracts from two NFL teams!! Toss a football to a friend 10 times (make sure you both can catch it!) 5 Barack Obama 200944th president President Obama is a big fan of staying healthy and loves to play basketball. Try to make two baskets before you move on to a different president! 6 Ronald Reagan was a very good swimmer and said he saved 77 lives while working as a lifeguard! Celebrate his days at the pool by hitting a beach ball in the air as you say your “ABC’s” 7 John Adams knew how important it was to stay healthy and he tried to walk up to 5 miles a day! Walk with a friend 5 times counterclockwise around the gym. 8 Usysses S. Grant was involved in track and field and competed in the high jump. His high jump record at West Point Military Academy lasted more than 25 years! See how high you can jump and touch the wall-give yourself 3 tries! 9 George W. Bush is the only president to have run a marathon. A marathon is a running race that is 26.2 miles long and President Bush ran it in 3 hours, 44 minutes, and 52 seconds!!! Run and touch 26 different things (not people) in the gym! 10 When James Buchanan was president the Pony Express crosscountry mail delivery began (it started in 1860). Gallop 1 time counter-clockwise around the gym. 11 President Arthur really loved fishing and was one of the best fishermen in America. He once caught an 80pound Bass!! Try to throw a fish into the “pond” from 3 different poly spots! 12 Although President Taft was our largest president (he weighed 332 pounds), he really loved sports. He especially enjoyed baseball, tennis, and dancing. He created the “seventh-inning stretch” at baseball games. Do the “TV stretch” for 20 seconds in honor of President Taft. Presidential Sports Trivia Directions: Divide the students in to 12 different groups and give each group a pair of die. Have each group start at a small cone (this will be their “home”). When the music starts each group will roll their die and after adding the numbers, the whole group will find that number on a president and complete the exercise as a group.
