LENTEN FRIDAYS ~ DAYS OF ABSTINANCE

This means that Catholics over 14 years of age must abstain from meat (and soup or gravy made from meat) on Fridays of Lent. This includes Ash Wednesday and Good Friday which are also days when we are obliged to fast.

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

Across the Diocese of Trenton, we gather in our churches each week by the hundreds of thousands to nourish our spiritual lives through the Eucharist and to give glory and thanks to our loving and generous God. Centered in the Eucharist, our Catholic faith begins with Mass, but the Gospel is for every day. From Sunday to Sunday, our parishes are places of bustling activity, reaching out and delivering sustenance – both spiritual and physical – to children and families; our youth and young adults; to those who are sick, lonely, suffering and grieving, and to people who have not yet heard or embraced the Word of God. Fostering and supporting much of the work that is carried out in our parishes in the name of Christ is an important responsibility of the Bishop and the Diocese. But we cannot do this without you, the faithful, generous people of the Church of Trenton. Through your generous support of the Appeal, you are helping to make it possible for our Diocese to truly journey with our parishes as they live out the call – from Sunday to Sunday – to be the hands and feet and face of Christ in their communities. This year ’s Annual Catholic Appeal reminds us of the role that each of us plays in that “together mission.” Our recurring theme, “Act of Faith, Works of Love,” calls every member of this diocesan family to pursue positive steps toward bringing the Gospel to life, every day. I ask you to prayerfully consider a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal. And may God bless each and every one of you!

Yours in Christ,

Most Reverend David M. O’Connell, C.M. Bishop of Trenton

The Catholic Annual Appeal Pledge Weekend is set for this weekend for our parish. Our parish goal is $40,000.00.

Together, let us show our support of this year’s appeal with our generosity and prayer.
