I am happy to provide you with a reference letter for Ashley Miller. In the fall of 2013,
Ms. Miller was a student in my section of Social Work 4810: Research Methods, Data
Analysis and Practice Evaluation II. During this course Ms. Miller frequently asked
thoughtful questions and made comments that demonstrated her ability to think
critically. Her written assignments were well done and showed attention to detail. Ms.
Miller is a bright student as evidenced by her academic record (e.g. 3.4 GPA, Dean’s
List) and will be starting the MSW program this spring. Ms. Miller is a strong candidate
for the program given her academic background and her previous field experiences.
Ashley possesses the essential qualities to succeed in the Master’s of Social Work
program. She is dedicated to the social work profession and pursuing her education.
Each week she drives from her home in Ohio to Michigan for both for her classes and
her field placement. She has articulated a strong interest in school social work.
In various positions at Wayne State and other universities, I have had the opportunity to
evaluate numerous undergraduate and graduate students. Ms. Miller possesses the
motivation, diligence, and mental wherewithal to be successful. Ms. Miller will benefit
greatly from specialized social work coursework and additional practical experience that
she will be gaining through the MSW program. I believe that Ms. Miller possesses high
