NEMO: NEtworking for the developMent of maritime tOurism at EUSAIR level
Objectives:
• transnational approach to develop Fisheries related tourism in
Adriatic/Ionian Regions + integrated maritime policy and coastal development protecting environment and biodiversity
• Shared methodology to standardize mapping activities and data collection/comparison from Institutions, Science, Socio Economic levels;
• Foresight study connecting fishing activities to territorial tourism potential and contributing to sea protection reducing fishing effort;
• Action Plan for future cooperation projects fostering integrated marine/maritime approach .

MED Maritime Call – The TOURMEDASSETS project
TOURMEDASSETS: Enhancing the growth potential of coastal tourism concentration through an innovative, green and inclusive mobilisation of Med area local assets
Rationale:
1) lack of knowledge to ensure growth of tourism industry;
2) lack of knowledge to address sustainable and innovative policies for the
MED area
Objective: provide a Decision Support System to:
• identify assets on which policy makers can stimulate growth of tourism
• Identify global challenges to the development of such assets
• design innovative policies to be competitive on the global tourism market, while keeping tourism’s sustainability

SHIFT - Sustainable Tourism In Fragile Territories
Objective: to experiment strategies to foster sustainable tourism in Mediterranean fragile coastal areas and islands through a transnational partnership proposing an Integrated Quality Management model to optimise supply; to redistribute tourism pressure over an extended season and toward different market segments drawn from local cultural and natural diversity.

NEWPER: New Performances for Mediterranean Tourism
Specific objective
Improvement of the innovative governance process aimed at the valorisation of secondary tourist destinations at local level
Expected results
• Enhanced knowledge of the public governance system in the tourism sector and efficiency of tourism advertising programmes in the areas involved
• Development of a shared pilot model among local authorities to improve the competitiveness of tourism sector governance
• Drafting and promotion of a guide on to “How to improve the governance of public tourism policies to privilege secondary tourist destinations ”

HELAND: Promoting socio-economic sustainable development through innovative technological actions for Mediterranean tourism-heritage and landscapes protection clusters
Specific objective
Development and dissemination of common diagnosis, procedures and multidisciplinary advanced technologies for the integrated management, exploitation and promotion of the cultural heritage and landscape protection to foster quality and sustainable tourism
Expected results
• Assessment of the management of selected touristic sites in partner areas
• Design of a set of “sustainable tourism” indicators
• Transfer of advanced technologies (GIS, augmented reality, 3D) for the integrated management of identified touristic sites
• Diffusion across the Mediterranean area of the best practices developed by the project

Specific objective
• To experiment innovative structures of tourism planning/management based on broad institutional/socio-economic cooperation
• To foster the application of “Total Quality Management” systems and schemes for sustainable tourism development in target areas
Expected results
• Defined models of governance for the participation of civil society, local communities and institutions in processes setting up tourism strategies
• At least 7 thematic itineraries and 28 packages created/promoted according to the criteria of
“Total Quality Management”
• Improved capacity of SMEs to provide competitive products and services

InTourAct project
Objectives:
•Ensuring an integrated approach in tourism development planning in terms of synergies with the policies related to tourism and from a geographic point of view
•promoting not only the central tourist destinations but also the surrounding areas, towards the extension of the tourist season, a reduction of tourism concentration, environmental and economic sustainability and supply enhancement
•promoting the bottom up analysis, planning and evaluation of tourist development to optimize the resources and socio-economic knowledge and to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of innovative models and supplies;
• Building and setting up a transnational sustainable and integrated tourism development forum for urban and periurban/rural areas.
The project therefore aims at drafting integrated and sustainable tourism action plans for peri-urban areas through a participatory approach thus contributing towards the development of functional regions in a key economic sector.
