West Park Lobster Bake
June 22, 2014
What better way to end West Park Weekend than to enjoy the Bolete Lobster Bake. A cold
bar and passed hors d’oeuvres began at 4:00 p.m., followed by the four course dinner. One long
table adjacent to the fountain was set for 61 guests. White linens covered in brown paper to absorb
the clarified butter served with the lobster and wild flowers bouquets topped the table. All beverages
were served in pint mason jars.
Once the black thunderstorm clouds passed over West Park, we began enjoying the fantastic
menu served by Bolete—“Best of Boston” Clam Chowder; Keepsake Farms Green Salad; Lobster Bake
(Profeta Farm’s chorizo, stuffed quahog, littlenecks, mussels, corn, potato, kale and lobster dashi
broth) served in glass bowls large enough to display the two pound Maine lobster in the shell on top;
and ending with Goat Cheese Cheesecake served in mason jars. The Allentown Band was performing
in the band shell.
As the daylight was ending, sixty one guests left a casual but elegant dining experience
outdoors in the serene beauty of the West Park arboretum. The fabulous dinner was perhaps the
most elaborate meal ever to be served in West Park and was the perfect finale to the successful
weekend events of Art in the Park and the House Tour. Many thanks to the innovative team that
brought Bolete’s famous Lobster Bake to West Park.

Here is some news about how West Park is utilized by the community at large.
Students who participated in an ARTS PROJECT course that is held at Penn State Lehigh Valley
recently visited West Park and participated in a Plein Air Drawing Class in which students created

creating drawings in the park.

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS
It is a part of our mission to disseminate
information that is important and useful to our
members in a timely manner. One way we do this
is to send occasional emails to our membership,
such as crime specific to the neighborhood,
meetings of special interest, events or programs.
In order to accomplish this goal, we need your
updated email address. We promise not to abuse
this information. You will not be getting daily
spam.
We are also adding a line to our membership
application that will give you the option of
receiving your newsletters electronically. Mailing
the newsletter can be expensive as there are specific
USPS guidelines we must follow to be eligible for
bulk mail rates. Perhaps we can save some money
and help the environment by delivering as many as
possible by email. This is a work in progress.
