Make-Up Tests
If a student is absent on the day of a test or graded
class work, it is his or her responsibility to
make-up the test within two weeks.
Students scoring below 70% on Formative Tests
will have the opportunity to demonstrate
proficiency by retaking a similar assessment
(except Spelling) following reteaching within two
weeks.
Make-up and redo tests may be completed before
school or at lunch by appointment, or during
intervention. Incomplete tests remain at school.
District Benchmarks
Based on California State Essential Standards,
VCPUSD has designed a schedule of
formative tests to be administered in an
online format throughout the trimester. Each
test covers one essential standard. A list of
these assessments will be posted on our class
Haiku page. Lessons and videos to support
the standards are posted on the class Haiku
page under Ms. Roen’s Student Resources.
Essential Standards
• Based on the California Requirements
• Fewer standards, greater depth
• Preparing students for college and career
• Critical Thinking, Collaboration
• Argumentation, citing the text
• Computer-based assessment
• Constructed Response
• Choose all that apply
• Performance tasks require application and
synthesis of skills learned
Lilac SMART Goals
Every trimester the Lilac students and teachers
select Reading, Writing, and/or Math goals to
help us measure progress and improve
instruction. Teachers also pursue technology
and professional development goals.
Tested concepts are scaffolded on prior
knowledge and vocabulary development, then
follow this format: Lesson - check for
Understanding - Reteach/Review - PostTest Reteach/Review until Proficient
iPad Time!
• Your student has created an “Explain
