Apprenticeships
The ATA has been established by the City of
Bradford Metropolitan District Council and
Bradford College. Its aim is to make it easier
for smaller businesses to experience
apprenticeships and grow through increased
access to skills and staff. It is supported by

the Leeds City Region City Deal and is part of
the Get Bradford Working Programme.
The ATA will support the creation of new
apprenticeship opportunities and will focus
on small employers that are not normally
able to commit to taking on an apprentice.
It will help them to overcome barriers and
access this valuable resource in a relatively
risk-free and flexible way.

Sessions run on a 1-2-1 basis enabling each client to get
the advice, support and guidance they need to make a
decision on self-employment. The initial session will last
up to one hour. Following that, ongoing support will be
available either on a 1-2-1 basis or group sessions which
will be arranged between the customer & the

Aims to support long-term JSA claimants to start their
own business. It supports the creation of a business as
long as the claimant has a genuine aspiration to build a
sustainable business.
Through NEA claimants will receive the support of a
local business mentoring organisation that is
responsible for assessing the quality of the claimant’s
business idea and its suitability for support through

Learning to manage money can be really tough for
teenagers. Students are challenged using a 'life map' to
consider the ups and downs they will face in handling
their own financial futures. They get a hands-on
introduction to credit and debt, savings, investments

ONE IN A MILLION is a Bradford-based charity that
works in partnership with Bradford City FC to help
children and young people, many of whom are from
disadvantaged backgrounds.
One in a Million provides education in and out of school
through Sports, Arts and Enterprise programmes.
Started in 2005 by volunteers who wanted to make a
real and lasting difference in these communities. Now

work with up to 750 children and young people every
week in Bradford.
Mix of vocational and academic learning, themed across
sports, the arts and enterprise and delivered within a
broad and balanced curriculum.
Includes basic skills in literacy and numeracy, build
conceptual knowledge and develop personal, social and
learning skills (KS3).Individual tailored approach.
Celebrate the successes and ambitions of each young
person not only through nationally recognised awards,
but also through the achievement of non-traditional
awards, including professional certification in sport, the
arts and/or enterprise.

(ICE)
An innovative new way of providing education for
young people aged 14 – 19. They work by building
partnerships between employers and education
providers so that the skills young people develop match
the ones employer’s need. Business engagement is at
the heart of the ICE model. ICE provide an environment
where employers and training providers can exchange
knowledge and innovation which will contribute to the
economic competitiveness of the district.
The ICE curriculum develops learning through businessled projects using team working, problem-solving and
creative skills as ways to develop technical knowledge
and expertise.
ICE will provide high quality education with clear
pathways into apprenticeships and higher education
that lead to good quality jobs.

students a chance to play an instrumental role in
