Use academic resources, such as the General Catalog, your Academic Advising Center, major department, college Dean’s Office, academic coordinator or the Student Academic Success Center. Go to class! The campus runs on the 10-week quarter system which moves very quickly. Work on your note-taking skills, utilize office hours, and go to tutoring and workshops in SASC and the AACs. Manage your time. Start assignments early and obtain help when needed. Use your planner to prepare for upcoming exams and assignment due dates. (Refer to page 83 in the Handbook for a helpful time-management table) Find a good place to study. Organize or join a study group. Dropping a class: There are two drop deadlines: the 10 th day of instruction and the 20th day of instruction. Drop deadlines are indicated on the detailed course summary using the online Class Search Tool and Schedule Builder or locate these dates using the Academic Calendar on the Registrar’s Office website. A course dropped prior to the deadline will not appear on your official transcript. When dropping a course, determine how this will affect your minimum progress. Passed/Not Passed (P/NP): If you are in good qualitative academic standing, you may choose the passed/not passed option according to the restrictions in your college. The last day to opt for P/NP is the 25th day of instruction. The grade P is assigned for a grade of C- or higher. The P/NP grade is not calculated in the UC Davis grade point average. The instructor must be contacted to assign an incomplete. Do not re-enroll for credit in a course for which an “I” grade was assigned. An “I” grade must be completed within three quarters of enrollment or it will revert to an “F” grade.
