Admission policies for concurrent enrollment for High
School Seniors:
 Written recommendation of high school guidance counselor
 Record must demonstrate a cumulative grade point average
of 3.5 or higher (B+)
 Transcripts indicating status as a high school senior
 Interview with the Admissions Officer

How to get started?
1- Contact the field representative located at your local
Education Center.
2- Complete an application, pay the application fee, and register.
Also if you are interested, complete a financial aid package.
3- Registration is open now for Spring Session classes with
many of the colleges located in Stuttgart.

Q. What advantage is there to my starting college while still enrolled in High
School?
A.
This is an opportunity for you to “try out” college and to get a “head start’’ on
your college requirements and to experience college while still at home and in
Europe.
Q. Will I be able to transfer credits to other colleges or universities?
A.
Yes, if your institution is regionally accredited which means that most colleges
and university will accept transfer courses, in which the student earns a "C" or
better. Some students do not complete their degrees overseas, but plan to
transfer credits to other colleges or universities in the States.

Q. How many courses may I take during each session?
A. High School Seniors with concurrent enrollment are allowed to enroll in one
freshman-level course each session during their senior year with approval from
the Admissions Office. Please remember you will need to budget approximately
two to three hours of study time for each hour of class time.
Q. Can I graduate overseas ?
A. You certainly can. Student may enroll until age of 21 with a military ID card or
until 23 if s/he remains a full-time student with the university and continues to
have a military ID card. All of the contract schools in Europe hold
Commencements. UMUC’s is held each May in Heidelberg, Germany In
addition to the May Commencement graduation date, there are two additional
graduation dates in December and August.

Q: How do I get started in the financial aid application process?
A. The field representative at your local education center will be happy to assist you in
getting started or you can find information on our UMUC web pages at
www.ed.umuc.edu.
Q. What happens if the student doesn’t complete, or gets a bad grade in one of
his/her courses?
A. Concurrent enrollment marks the beginning of your college record. It is important
you maintain regular attendance and passing grades in all of your college courses.
Standards are the same for everyone regardless of age, all courses are college-level.
Reviewing the texts and syllabi often helps students to understand the rigor of college
classes.

Q: How are online courses conducted?
A. Online classes vary, UMUC Europe offers courses via WebTycho, a web-based,
interactive, learning environment developed at the UMUC home campus in Adelphi,
MD. WebTycho provides many elements of the traditional classroom, for instance, a
discussion area, private study groups, student assignment portfolios, a grade book,
student e-mail roster, etc.
