Jumpstart: Summer Bridge Program
• Required for all entering students (with fewer than 30 hours in a
college setting) who are not college ready in reading, writing,
and/or math
• Must complete the program to enroll in coursework in Fall 2015
• Offered during the Summer II session (July 15-Aug 20)
• Will be offered on both Edinburg and Brownsville campuses
• Limited tuition/fee, residence hall, and dining scholarships
available
• Financial Aid: Apply for 2014-15 FAFSA
Jumpstart: Summer Bridge Program
• Embedded tutors and peer mentors
• Reading & writing are integrated into one course
• Math pathways
• Algebra path for STEM majors
• Statistics path for non-STEM majors
• Online sections available
What happens if a student can’t
attend Jumpstart or doesn’t pass it?
• Appeals process (deadline is July 3)
• Co-requisite developmental course paired with creditbearing course offered in Fall & Spring

• Students who are admitted to UTRGV, but are not college
ready in one or more area will be allowed to enroll in
coursework at UTRGV if they follow the required pathway.
• Summer II Jumpstart program
• They do not have to enroll at a local community college
unless they choose to do so.
• UTRGV is committed to providing the
necessary support so all of our students can
be successful.
