Research Project
Overview of Project
This is an independent research project that will be ongoing for the remainder of the year. Students will
choose an approved topic of interest that will tie into the study of human anatomy and physiology.
Students will research their topic and write a formal term paper using APA format. This project will be
divided into 3 parts: Current event folder; outline; final paper.
Learning Targets
Students will:
1. Develop a research question dealing with the study of the human body.
2. Research professional journals for articles related to their question.
3. Analyze information and write a term paper in APA format.
Part one: Current Event Folder
After developing their research question and having it approved, students will begin collecting research
from professional journals. For each article, students will complete a “Current Event Form”. There
should be a minimum of 7 forms included in the folder and copies of the articles are not required,
however complete APA citation will be required for each entry. Students may include more than 7
articles if needed. All of the articles should help answer the student’s research question. The Current
Event Folder will be due Thursday, March 3rd. I have set aside the following Fridays as research dates:
 January 15th
 January 29th
 February 5th
 February 19th
 February 26th
***Students may need to do additional research. Be responsible!!
On January 15th, students will brainstorm for topics and submit 3 topics of interest. One will be
approved for topic.
Additional information
 Students will need a 3-pronged folder for this project.
 Additional Current event forms will be located on the website for students to print off as
needed.
