I woke up Monday morning in a sad, gloomy (1) mood. I stared at the alarm clock in
disbelief(2)! I was thirty minutes late, not to mention it was raining, so waiting on the bus was going to be miserable. Plus, I had forgotten my rain coat at my friend’s house. Great! I could feel a dark mood surrounding(3) me. If only I could go on a short vacation(4) to somewhere tropical and sunny. Oh well.
But as I slipped on my jeans, I felt something in my pocket. What was it? YAY! I felt
extreme happiness (5) as I pulled out a TEN dollar bill! Maybe this was a sign (6) that things would be okay! Maybe instead of a pedestrian(7) day, this day would be something special!
Maybe things would turn around.
I had a sudden great idea (8)! I was the only one who could make my day better. I could be in a yucky mood because of all the negatives, or I could create some balance(9) by think positively and smiling, to improve my mood. The quality of my day was all up to me. In fact, that Monday turned out to be wonderful! As soon as I decided to change my attitude, the sun came out, a gorgeous rainbow emerged from the previously gray sky, and I used my ten dollars to buy myself and a friend some ice cream. Not too shabby for a rainy Monday!
