a.) Describe the main events in the cell cycle and cell mitosis (including differences in
plant and animal cell divisions). Include the process of DNA replication in the S-phase of the cell cycle and it’s role in
potential changes to chromosomal makeup of a cell.
b.) Explain the process of binary fission (e.g., budding, vegetative propagation, etc.) and what forms of cells undergo
this form of reproduction.
c.) Significance of meiosis in sexual reproduction and the significance of crossing over.
d.) Compare and contrast meiosis and mitosis
e.) Exemplify sources of genetic variations in sexually reproducing organisms and the mechanisms that produce this
variation.
f.) Create a cause and effect model to describe the process of change created by mutations to the cell from the
nitrogen base sequence to protein production .
g.) Identify forms of mutations and potential sources of increased mutations in the environment.
