About Strong Roots Last a Lifetime
Training Institute Series
The Strong Roots Last a Lifetime (Strong Roots) Training Institute Series deliver high-quality content and
are developed by experience professionals in the field of parenting education with the purpose of
addressing emerging needs. In the wake of recent catastrophic events such as Superstorm Sandy and the
Boston Marathon Bombing, as well as dealing with situations involving domestic violence and abuse,
parenting educators and related professionals have identified a need to understand and cope with
Vicarious Trauma. NYSPEP is proud to present our new 2013 series focus.
NYSPEP’s vision is that all children will grow up in a nurturing environment. NYSPEP provides
professionals and parents with essential tools and resources that enhance parenting skills, knowledge
and behavior. We accomplish this work through a strong, statewide collaborative network. Through this
work and the work of the professionals we serve, NYSPEP improves futures for children.
NYSPEP is convened by the NYS Council on Children and Families, NYS Office of Children and Family
Services / Children and Family Trust Fund, NYS Office of Mental Health, and Prevent Child Abuse NY.
Membership is free. For more information and to join NYSPEP, please visit www.nyspep.org.
This event is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health.
Please direct inquiries about this event to the NYSPEP Coordinator at 518.445.1273 or email
