Use the Art Rooms outside of lesson time. The Art Rooms are open after-school on a Thursday until 4.30pm and S5 is open Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes (speak to Mrs Eves if you would like to attended another lunchtime or evening) 2. Ensure homework is started on the day it is set. Do not leave Art homework until the day before – you may need specialist equipment or resources. 3. Keep up-to-date with the workload. All homework is coursework and will count towards your final GCSE grade. 4. Ensure you bring your sketchbook, Guidance and visuals booklets and other basic equipment to every lesson. 5. Be honest with your teacher about any challenges or problems. 6. Tackle all activities with a positive attitude, even if you are using materials or techniques you feel unconfident using. FOCUS on the presentation of your sketchbook – remember it is a piece of coursework. Information has already been given to students Spending time writing summary notes, creating revision cards, making mind-maps or any other active revision technique is good. Using the revision document in the student shared area would be a good starting point. But don’t forget to practise answering questions (BBC Bitesize and past papers) and just as important understand the type of questions and what they require you to do (use the PT’s in Dynamic learning). Keywords form a significant part in each exams. Definitions should be revised thoroughly. Each topic area has between 10 and 20 key words. The key words can be found through the Dynamic Learning resource for which all students have a user name and password. A useful resource for practicing is memrise – search for OCR GCSE Computing. State, Identify and Give questions: This type of question can be a one word answer; a phrase; sentence. These questions are usually worth only one or two marks. This type of question is sometimes used to follow up a state/identify/give question. Explain questions When asked to explain something you will need to give a description of a system and justify how and why it performs the way it does. For example, you may be asked to explain why email is better than fax. DT – Resistant Materials 1st December All students have a revision guide and should be studying the different section within this guide. Students are also given basic information about two designers Philippe Stack and Bethan Gray. They should be researching their work and the influences of their design. DT – Systems & Control 23rd November The purpose of the mock examination is to familiarise students with the layout and content of the paper. The questions focus on sustainability and the technical aspects of designing and making electronics. All students will be issued with a guide that provides them with an overview of the examination content. It also provides advice and hints to consider when answering the technical aspects questions.
