1. Use the Art Rooms outside of lesson time. The Art Rooms
are open after-school on a Thursday until 4.30pm and S5
is open Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes (speak to Mrs
Eves if you would like to attended another lunchtime or
evening)
2. Ensure homework is started on the day it is set. Do not
leave Art homework until the day before – you may need
specialist equipment or resources.
3. Keep up-to-date with the workload. All homework is
coursework and will count towards your final GCSE grade.
4. Ensure you bring your sketchbook, Guidance and visuals
booklets and other basic equipment to every lesson.
5. Be honest with your teacher about any challenges or
problems.
6. Tackle all activities with a positive attitude, even if you are
using materials or techniques you feel unconfident using.
FOCUS on the presentation of your sketchbook – remember it is a
piece of coursework.
Information has already been given to students
Spending time writing summary notes, creating revision cards,
making mind-maps or any other active revision technique is good.
Using the revision document in the student shared area would be
a good starting point. But don’t forget to practise answering
questions (BBC Bitesize and past papers) and just as important
understand the type of questions and what they require you to do
(use the PT’s in Dynamic learning).
Keywords form a significant part in each exams.
Definitions should be revised thoroughly. Each topic
area has between 10 and 20 key words. The key
words can be found through the Dynamic Learning
resource for which all students have a user name and
password. A useful resource for practicing is memrise
– search for OCR GCSE Computing.
State, Identify and Give questions:
This type of question can be a one word answer; a phrase;
sentence. These questions are usually worth only one or two
marks. Sometimes questions of this type are grouped into multiple
choice questions.

REVISION RESOURCES
Describe questions
This is at least one sentence with an expansion or example. This
type of question is sometimes used to follow up a
state/identify/give question.
Explain questions
When asked to explain something you will need to give a
description of a system and justify how and why it performs the
way it does. For example, you may be asked to explain why email
is better than fax. You would need to compare and contrast the
two and then provide a justification for your answer.

Discuss questions
This type of question is the biggest of all questions (worth the
most amount of marks) and usually appears once or twice in the
exam paper. You will need to discuss the impact and
consequences of something, with at least one advantage and
disadvantage and include a conclusion. It is a very open question
in which you will be marked by the quality of your answer. There
are loads of ways this type of question could be answered.
More details about the types of questions are given in the GCSE
Revision folder on the students shared area
