ENGQ 1099 COURSE DESCRIPTION • ENGQ 1099, online, will focus on developing the skills needed to write grammatically correct, effective and varied paragraphs and essays for the purpose of university essay writing. Emphasis will be placed on using the writing process as a means of producing paragraphs and essays. Students will also learn to read and to respond critically to university level readings. Regular weekly participation is crucial and will lead to the skill development needed for success in university level courses. ENGQ 1099 (online) STUDENT EVALUATION * * * * Paragraphs (2) 10 Essays and Outlines 40 Online Discussion Forums 10 Grammar exercises and tests 10 (incorporated throughout the semester) Final Exam 30 must pass by 60% (exam must be written on April 21st h, 2010) _______________________________________________________ * Assignments will include outlines, paragraphs, essays, sentence skills, responsive writing, short summaries and editing practice. • ENGQ 1096 (1.5 credit sentence level course) can be taken concurrently to help students with sentence skills.
