Certified teachers only teach courses in which they are certified. Advanced Academics policy is to
hire teachers who hold a valid certificate. As we grow in Florida, we will add additional Florida
certified teachers. All teachers submit a Florida teacher application and are required to submit
fingerprints along with their application to the appropriate Florida authorities. All teachers must
complete a background check and drug testing prior to employment. In addition, they must hold a
current state certification and preference is given to those with at least three years’ experience in
the traditional classroom. They must have a bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in the subject
area in which they teach. They are interviewed by a panel of their peers and then interviewed by
the Assistant Principal. Once a possible candidate has gone through this process, a final interview
is held by the Director of Education. Questions pertaining to content knowledge, educational
philosophy, use of technology, vision of online education, etc. are asked to ensure that the teacher
exhibits and shares the vision and mission of Advanced Academics and our districts.
