Tees Valley Investing in People, Investing
in Communities Programme (1)
• A true partnership between the 5 LAs and community
organisations
• Vision:
‘To achieve inclusion for all and support sustained, economic growth
within the Tees Valley by working within local communities to transform
peoples’ lives and help them move towards employment.’
• Aim:
‘Develop a sustainable, Tees Valley Alliance amongst communitybased groups who will deliver creative, invigorating, ambitious and
diverse, employment focussed activities that will increase an
individual’s resilience, grit and employability and entrepreneurial skills.’
Tees Valley Investing in People, Investing
in Communities Programme (2)
• Objectives:
– To improve the health and wellbeing of local people within
marginalised communities
– To increase employment and skill levels to meet the
demands of employers and the labour market
– To increase economic inclusion of adults by tackling
financial and digital exclusion
• This programme will complement and add value to our
£30million Tees Valley Youth Employment Initiative
proposal
Tees Valley Investing in People, Investing
in Communities Programme (3)
• This will feed in to existing LA Strategic Priorities,
statutory services, LA networks and link effectively to
mainstream provision
• It will open new alternative pathways to support vulnerable
groups to re-engage with specialist provision
• It will focus on marginalised communities and ensure
‘rural proofing’ (Provide access to people in these areas)
• Stop the ‘cycle’ of individuals moving from one
intervention to another without a desired long term
outcome being achieved.
