 Cuban outfielder signed a 7-year major league contract with the Red Sox on 8/23/14.
 In 360 games over 5 seasons in Cuba’s major league, Serie Nacional, hit .319 (403-for-1,265)
with 75 2B, 11 3B, 51 HR, 99 BB, 256 R, 76 SB, a .383 OBP, .516 SLG, and .899 OPS (including
postseason).
 Spent all 5 Serie Nacional campaigns with his hometown team, Ciego de Avila…Appeared
primarily in CF and RF…Also played 2B and 3B in both 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, and played
some LF in 2009-10.
 Last played in Cuba during the 2012-13 season…Hit .274 with 6 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR, and 29 RBI over
68 games…Struck out fewer times (29) than he walked (31).
 During the 2011-12 season, hit .342 in 113 games with 60 XBH, including 21 HR…Helped Ciego

 Reached base safely via hit or walk in 9 of 10 games for BOS, all starts in CF, batting .333 (12-for36) with 6 R, 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 BB, and a HBP…Was successful in all 3 SB attempts.
 In 11 minor league games, all in playoff action, hit .293 (12-for-41) with 7 R, 4 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 5
BB, and 2 SB…Helped the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Red Sox and Triple-A PawSox to their
league titles.
 After signing with BOS, was optioned to the GCL and played 2 games (1-for-5, BB)…Made U.S.
pro debut in Game 2 of the GCL Championship Series on 8/31 vs. the GCL Yankees1, going 1-for2 as the DH.
 Transferred to Double-A Portland on 9/2 following the GCL season and played 4 postseason

 Transferred to the PawSox on 9/8 and played in 5 more playoff games, winning the Governor’s

 Hit a leadoff home run in final minor league contest, the Triple-A Championship Game on 9/16
against Omaha (KC), a 4-2 loss.

 Drew a bases-loaded walk in the 6th inning on 9/24 vs. TB for 1st career RBI.

2 HR, 5 RBI)…Drove in at least 1 run in 4 straight games from 9/24-27 (6 total RBI).
His 1st major league XBH was a 3-run HR on 9/25 vs. TB off Steve Geltz in the 3rd
inning…Homered again the next night in the 7th inning vs. NYY’s Shawn Kelley.
Following the season, posted a combined .342/.375/.452/.827 line with 5 2B, HR, 7 RBI, 5 BB,
and 3 SB between Surprise of the Arizona Fall League (8 G) and Caguas of the Puerto Rican
