Earth Science Merit Program Mrs. Dana Studdard dstuddard@thomas.k12.ga.us “The Flight Plan” Grading Policy: Portfolios/Daily Tests/Projects Quizzes and Labs *For percentage break down see student handbook! Homework Policy: Each nine weeks a Homework Test Grade will be awarded. All students begin the nine weeks with a 100. If all homework is completed and submitted on time, they will receive a 100 as a test grade. Each homework assignment will be worth 10 points. If a homework assignment is not submitted on time, the student will lose points from their test grade. A homework test grade sheet will be placed in their portfolio. I encourage parents to view this periodically to confirm that your child is turning in homework! No late homework assignments will be accepted. Homework assignments are given verbally, remind 101, and students should record them on their homework test grade sheet! Astronaut Merit Points: Merit points are earned by correctly answering “Brain Bruisers”, being awarded “Astronaut of Merit” (top three scores on tests) ,and receiving the highest grade on labs. The points may be added to test grades which are heavily weighted! Points will be placed on their merit cards. If they lose their card, points cannot be replaced. Late Policy: 10 points daily will be deducted from an assignment submitted late. (homework excluded) After 5 school days, the student will receive a zero. I often say to them, this is your workplace! Please assist me in building merit scholars by being quick to support these policies and slow to ask for exceptions! Thank you for sending your children my way! It is an honor and a privilege! Dana Studdard Dstuddard@thomas.k12.ga.us
