The Department of Mathematics and Science is informing all principals, assistant principals, and teachers about the South Florida Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) illustrated poem contest. In celebration of Earth Day, The South Florida Section of the American Chemical Society is sponsoring a Poem Contest. Teachers might be interested in motivating and challenging students to think how science in general affects lives in positive ways. Representatives of the American Chemical Society in South Florida want to give students a reason to reflect on this special occasion. This is a national competition and a winner in each category from South Florida will advance to the national level. Available categories: o K-2 grade level o 3-5 grade level o 6-8 grade level o 9-12 grade level Contest Deadline: o April 1, 2015 (Originals must be submitted). o Schools can submit ONE entry level in each of the categories. Prizes: o Certificates will be presented to the winners at the South Florida Section Annual Awards Banquet. o Winners of the South Florida Section illustrated poem contest will advance to the ACS National Illustrated Poem Contest.
